We're the Only Ones Better Than the Only Ones
A popular city police officer died Saturday, four days after being struck by a sport utility vehicle driven by a federal judge who is a cousin of former President Bush, New Haven's mayor said....

No charges have been filed.

New Haven police chief Francisco Ortiz said a long investigation will be required to determine what happened, but police did not feel it was necessary to test Walker for drugs or alcohol.

Just thought it was funny. Can you imagine if some peasant had ran over the cop?

Bs, I know you didn't mean it that way, but I wouldn't characterize this as funny. It is pretty distrubing how unconcerned LEOs seem to be with testing political figures for intoxication in these anecdotes, (At least this judge couldn't use the "Going to vote" excuse.)

I understand that LEOs tend to be pretty supportive of each other, not unlike servicemembers. I know if one of my brothers in arms was taken out by a Federal Judge, I wouldn't be inclined to take it easy just to help out my career. connections or none, I'd be pretty hot to seek justice for my fallen brother.

I'd love to hear more details from the LEOs involved.

Uh, how is this firearms related, though?

Edit: You know, maybe he wasn't "Let off." Maybe he didn't seem drunk or reek of alchohol. I am not saying he is blameless, he could have fallen asleep or any number of things including plain old driver error. Nothing in the report really indicated that the police were not interested in pursuing the issue, just that they had not yet filed any charges. Still, I would think vehicular manslaughter at the least would be considered.

Haven't you heard? Theyre the Only Ones who can be trusted with firearms. The Only Ones responsible enough to partake of armed self defense.

A bit flamebaity, but recognize that this is a mockery only of people that hold that viewpoint. Obviously most LEO's (especially here) dont share such a totalitarian view of things.

edit: It occurred to me that the mods will probably lock this thread. So be it.

I actually cannot believe that this really happened...

Politics is becoming so corrupt that it makes one nausiated. :barf:

Had it been me or you, we would have had the book, the kitchen sink, the house and the car thrown at us, while MADD and a grieving widow cheerfully stuck needles in our arms and other "survivors" beat their breasts saying it was a cause for joy....

As we see in many signatures around here.....

"Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my firearms"

This is unfortunately nothing new.
