S&W 22A is very easy to take down. Lock the slide back, depress the disassmbly button, remove the barrel and remove the slide. Cleaning? All of them have funky little nooks and crannies.

From what i hear, the rugers are a pain in the... well use your imagination... to clean, which is unfortunate because i like the mark 2, but would prefer to get something that isn't too big of a hassle. What in your experience is the easiest .22 autoloader to clean?
I own one. It's a pain in the ass.
My MKIII was not easy the first time I tried it, so I did it 3 more times. After that, it was pretty simple.

I once watched a local gunshop manager fieldstrip a 1911. He got it apart with just a little trouble, but could not get it back together. Called over another guy who was even less help.
Watched a couple of salesmen and the owner try to get a P22 back together last week. It was fun watching someone else struggle with assembly.

Walther PP-PPK-TPH
By far the easiest to clean with the Bersa Firestorm and Daewoo DP-22 close seconds

What about the 22 Kimber or the many 22 conversions for the 1911? The conversions run about $200 - $300, equal to or less than a new pistol, if you have a 1911.

I don't own one but I hear the Mark 2 isn't as bad as you think.

LOL!

also regarding the 22lr conversions. I have one for my Kimber .45 and it's trick as get out. I love the thing but it is pricey and so are spare mags. The mags also don't have followers and they will not lock the gun open when empty..... but for plinking I think it's great.
