What 9mm fills my needs.

I recently got a Walther P1, the postwar version of the P38. Alloy frame, 8+1, chamber indicator, DA, magazines between $13-18. All the FMJ I put through it had no failures (haven't tested the HP yet). Great ergonomics.

And it looks cool as hell

Hey I love my P1 also, mostly for historical reasons, but it has a double action trigger that only a mother could love. Long, heavy and gritty. You can get a better 9mm for the same price.

As far as a 9mm that meets the poster's requirements I'd say a Hi Power, or a CZ 75/85.

The Hi Power has a trigger that I like just fine, but some find is improved by removing the magazine disconnect. Also some people experience hammer bite with it, requiring the installation of another hammer to correct. I get a lesser version of the hammer bite, after a range session I'll find the web of my hand is red, with maybe a mosquito bite sized spot of broken dermis. It's never drawn blood, but it's possible that I'm not holding it choked up enough either.

I have a CZ85B, and it's one of my favorite guns. It's more accurate than I am, and it has both a great single and double action trigger. You have the option of carrying it cocked and locked, or with the hammered lowered for an initial double action shot. Mind you I'm not entirely comfortable with having to manually lower the hammer for that double action shot, maybe years of hearing, "Don't put your finger on the trigger until you're ready to fire that gun."

No Ruger fans here?

First, one must define accuracy at 25yds.

I have several thousand rounds (probably close to 20,000), through my tried and tested Ruger P85. Not one failure. If there's never a failure, no need for a parts source. No plastic to wear out. None. It's a metal gun through and through.

Now, the P85 isn't a premadona of any sort. Mine's parkerized. It's cheap. Ton's cheaper than the Sig, Baretta or BHP. But not cheaply built. I'll call it the Mossberg of the 9's. Reliable as hell. Sights are available for the P series. Grips and a plethora of holsters too. Magazines to 16rnds for $25ea. Double action trigger isn't the greatest but there's the Trapper spring kits available for the P series. Single action is as nice as any other out there.

I'd suggest a later model P95dc.

Else, If I didn't have the P85, I'd like the Sig if I were to want another DA. Else I'd stick with my 1911's. And as a 1911 fan, I'd have to put a plug in for one in 9mm. But all of mine are .45acp.

CZ 75

Many many in use world wide. Police and Military.
Mags are CHEAP. I bought two recently from fourfourmag.com - 10 rd - $15...15 rd - $15.
Decent sights outa the box.
Many here who have them incl. me like the factory rubber grips.
Accurate, trigger is o.k. outa the box but it gets better pretty fast w/ use. Trigger jobs are avail.. Mine was not very used, but it had some stove pipe issues in the first 300 rounds, none since.
Cheap...mine was $350 used and I paid too much, but its proven to be cheap.

I have the Sig 226 stainless stock 9mm, may favorite gun. Also have the CZ75BD with the Kadet kit for a 9mm and .22 on the same frame. Also have the BHP Standard. And the CZ P-01 9mm. All great guns. BHP is only single action, but CZ has the 75 in single action as well. For the price the 75 with the kadet kit beats the BHP, two guns for the price of one.
