What Accessories do you ALWAYS buy for a new gun?

I like to have at least 5 mags for the pistols. For the revolver, at least four speedloaders. I do need more holsters for my handguns. For rifles, sling is mandatory, as is abundance of stripper clips or mags. Since most of my rifles are C&R, stuff like bayonets, cleaning kits and such is nice, but not mandatory.

Bore brush if its a new caliber a carry case for the range that fits it just right and the best optics I can afford.

Usually a minimum of 20 mags for both handguns and long guns.

A CQB Solutions sling for long guns and high quality holsters for handguns (Milt Sparks, Kramer, Lou Alessi, G-Code, etc.)

For a rifle Always: Scope, Mounts, and bore brush if i dont already have it.
Handgun: depends, Revovler bore brush if need be, and autoloaders, a few extra Magazines, and Bore Brush. I am very particular about the cleanliness of my firearms!

For small pistols-- a magazine extention for my little finger to grip. For rifles -- a scope. Revolvers-- rubber grips. Shotgun -- nothing.

It depends on the reason I bought the gun. If it's to shoot occasionally, or for historical interest, I'll try to have about 100 rounds on hand for each caliber, but I won't do much more than that.

If it's a gun to use for hunting or defensive purposes, it gets a whole lot more attention. Almost always, new grips are in order for revolvers, and often for pistols too. At least a thousand rounds of training ammo in each defensive caliber, and several thousand in 9mm., which is what I use for much of my training (cheaper ammo! :D ): plus at least 100 rounds of defensive/hunting ammo in each caliber. At least one good-quality IWB holster for carry, and at least one generic OWB holster for training (Fobus comes in for a lot of use here, as does Uncle Mike's). A minimum of four magazines for pistols or speedloaders for revolvers: extra mags for rifles if so equipped. Slings for long guns, add-on bits and pieces for shotguns if necessary, and so on.

I already have a well-equipped cleaning kit, so I usually don't have to buy extras here.

Handguns:
Extra mags/speedlaoders
Grips (except for my Kimber Polymer and Taurus M85UL)
Pistol rug and/or cheap nylon holster
Boresnake and brush, if I dont already have one for the caliber.

Long arms:
Hardcase
lots of ammo

My only longarm is a thompson, hence the short list.
