I see tons of reviews on line about 5.56mm muzzle brakes but very little about 30 cal.

I'd prefer something with flats on it as I will be switching between the suppressor and a threaded silencer. A self-tightening design (helical threads that interact with the muzzle blast) would be a plus as those only need to be tightened to about 10-15 lb-ft.

I have had good luck with the surefire brakes intended for their suppressors FWIW. Get the brake on, then just put the suppressor over the brake and voila. Also helps to preserve the first baffles in the can! Win win

Other than those, I generally just go with a nice low key thread protector.

What caliber rifle and suppressor are you working with?

I had a shark brake on my Armalite carbine; worked well, but large and heavy. My current .308 AR is rockin' a 48 port titanium brake of my own design. Just made it last weekend, so we'll see how it does Sunday.

Other than that, I'm afraid I haven't much input to offer.

I like the PWS FSC-30. Took it off my SCAR, so I could add a fast attach can, and moved it to a cheap Century L1A1 that wasn't threaded concentrically. Except it is almost comically loud.

The BABC on my LMT LM8 has proven to be pretty effective. (Pic below shows it on the 16.1" C/L 7.62 MRP barrel).

Beyond the benefit of almost no discernible muzzle rise, the BABC seems to have imparted some degree of "accurizing" effect on the barrel, at least more so than the A2-type FH that it replaced. Groups are noticeably tighter with the BABC, ... or else I'm just consistently shooting the LM8 better, though I doubt it. :scrutiny:

Yankee Hill makes suppressors that fit over muzzel brakes or flash hidders that they make so you can leave the FH or brake on your weapon all the time.

I have an excellent threaded 7.62 silencer and am not in the market for a QD any time soon, so I will be swapping. Right now I use the Wilson AccuTac flash suppressor because it is of the self-tightening helical design, is super effective (as all prong types are) and does not sing at all with equal length but unequal weight prongs). However, it is a FS not a brake.

Anyone have experience with the YHM slant brake?

I almost ordered one for my .300 BLK, but JSE was perpetually out of stock, and I just wasn't willing to pay over $50 elsewhere. Very cool looking, though, and I imagine they work decent.
