What are you going to do with the Ruger/Gunsite Scout?

That being said, comparing this rifle to a Stevens, Edge, or Mossberg 4x4 is not even close.
Perhaps not. But when declaring the Ruger to be the rifle for someone "on a budget" those minor cosmetic differences fade to insignificance.

I think what Dobe is trying to say is that for all the features you get with the GSR the rifle is a bargin.
And that is also probably true. That perhaps makes it a bargain if you're in the market for those parts.

It seems like a really nice rifle and many of the features are quite desirable. The marketing game and justifications we claim for it are where it is sometimes prudent to ask, "REALLY?" :)

For those of you that have bought the Scout Rifle,

How much does the laminate stock weigh?

Any idea how much the flash hider weights?

I am very much interested in a scout but want it under 6.6 lbs (rifle plus Scout scope plus sling). I've seen ultra light stocks that weight as little as 9 oz made of carbon fiber and kevlar (recoil for me is a non-issue) and I'm willing to pay for it if I can get this Scout down to weight.
