What are you storing your ammo in?

you can get dessicant at photography stores in small packets. I buy those midway 50 round boxes- 10 of those and a coffee can or two is all I keep loaded for anyone thing at a time.

I like to play with different bullets and charges, so tons and tons of ammo doesn't really work as well for me

I shoot a lot of GA Arms ammo through my AR and 10mm - all of that is on the floor in the cans it came in. Hand loads are in plastic boxes on the shelf.

Everything I buy usually stays in the container it came in. It's all inside the house. There are never kids in my house so I don't have to worry about keeping it locked up like the guns.

+9 Boxes in .50 cal ammo cans. Fit just about every commercial box you can think of quite nicely with just enough space for dessicant bags on top or sides. This includes 25 round shotshell boxes and bandoliers loaded with 7.62x.39 stripper clips.

I do use .30 cal ammo cans for .22s though.

I too use Ammo cans. And since I live in such a high humidity area, I include a couple of little cheese cloth bags filled w/ rice as a cheap alternative to dessicant. Ready to go ammo is on stripper clips, in 7pocket bando's, in MilTec shoulder bags. 900 rounds for each rifle.

Is it bad to store ammo loose in the cans? Mine is in factory boxes right now but I'm thinking I can fit quite a bit more in if I dump it out. W/ a dessicant in there of course.

S&B Boxes

I noticed the other day that S&B factory boxes of 50 for 9mm are significantly smaller than just about any brand I've seen. The plastic insert really packs them in tightly.

Might make a real difference for storing large quantities.

shotshell in 50 cal ammo cans, pistol/rifle in 30 cal ammo cans,
some in boxes, others loose.

desicant in all.
