What are the Coyote hunters here using for their calling rifle?

Rifle

Caliber and bullet

Barrel Length

Action type

depends, when hunting, long range:
savage M112bv bolt action .22-250, 26" bull bbl with 12x leupold scope-

mid range:
savage M10FXP bolt action .243 win, 22" sporter weight bbl with 6x leupold scope-

short range:
mossberg 500 12ga 24" bbl with rifle sights, 00buck

pissed off because there in my yard/woods:
bear element bow, 65lb pull weight with carbon arrows and 100gr NAP spitfire broadheads.

now thats a tough shot. 440 yards on the run. watching them role like a empty 50gallon drum in a wind storm. thats what its all a bought when they see or wind ya.

Les Baer super varmint AR
.204 ruger
hornaday factory 32.grain
Leoupold 4.5x14 lr
26'' bbl
Its great when they won't come in close but to much gun and scope when they show up at 30 yds and you didn't see them comming. I am saving for an upper with a 20'' bbl and some sort of red dot sight or very low power scope.

425 cat, I think I heard a yelp and felt a little bump took a rain storm to wash the blood of the wheels and clean the guts out from belowdecks.

How do you kill a coyote anyways. i've got them crawling all over in my woods. i've been shooting them with some of the walmart federal bulk pack ammo. they don't seem to want to die.

EDIT: it's a 12ga shotgun btw

Tikka T3 laminated stainless 22" .243, inside of 200 yards I have a 3700 fps 55 gr. Sierra blitzking pushed by 44.5 gr. IMR 4895 and over 200 yards the load of choice is a 3400 fps 87 Vmax seated into the lands hard with 50.4 gr. N560 powder.

Interesting - scouts out ;

You should have ask who have...

Most have not...

Primary....Mossberg 835....4 buck...26" barrel

Secondary....Rem 700 bdl 22-250....Bolt

Occasionally, I use my buddy's Savage 24 .... 223 over 12

short range:
mossberg 500 12ga 24" bbl with rifle sights, 00buck

Oooo Whee... Just had to give you a shout-out for that one, Ken. My favorite close-range vermin rig!

Win Model 70 .22-250 with a Bull barrel. bullet is the Remington V-max something or other, same thing I use for prairie dogs.

Unless I am hunting, then it is whatever I happen to be carrying at the time. Killed them with everything from 12 ga 7 1/2 lead shot (it was really really close) up to a .45-70.

Ken 22250. Looks like you have all the bases covered.

When in AZ, where the shots were longer, I used a Ruger #1 in 25.06 with a 24 " barrel, 3X9 Nikon scope and 100 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips.

In Kansas I used a Remington full stock Model 7 in .223 with a 20" barrel, 4X Bausch and Lomb compact and 55 gr Sierra's.

Never killed on with a shotgun, but I killing one bow hunting. He committed suicide by walking out in front of my 57 lb Black Widow PSX and took a cedar arrow with 125 gr magnus broad head.

All good fun; thanks for the ideas.

Steven's Model 200 bolt action in 300 Win Mag. I've loaded some 110 grain HP's that should be pushing around 3,400 fps.
I've never taken a coyote, but hope to in the next month or so. I figure those 110 grain loads will do the job on groundhogs too. :neener:
