Its great when they won't come in close but to much gun and scope when they show up at 30 yds and you didn't see them comming. I am saving for an upper with a 20'' bbl and some sort of red dot sight or very low power scope.
How do you kill a coyote anyways. i've got them crawling all over in my woods. i've been shooting them with some of the walmart federal bulk pack ammo. they don't seem to want to die.
Tikka T3 laminated stainless 22" .243, inside of 200 yards I have a 3700 fps 55 gr. Sierra blitzking pushed by 44.5 gr. IMR 4895 and over 200 yards the load of choice is a 3400 fps 87 Vmax seated into the lands hard with 50.4 gr. N560 powder.
Win Model 70 .22-250 with a Bull barrel. bullet is the Remington V-max something or other, same thing I use for prairie dogs.
Unless I am hunting, then it is whatever I happen to be carrying at the time. Killed them with everything from 12 ga 7 1/2 lead shot (it was really really close) up to a .45-70.
Ken 22250. Looks like you have all the bases covered.
When in AZ, where the shots were longer, I used a Ruger #1 in 25.06 with a 24 " barrel, 3X9 Nikon scope and 100 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips.
In Kansas I used a Remington full stock Model 7 in .223 with a 20" barrel, 4X Bausch and Lomb compact and 55 gr Sierra's.
Never killed on with a shotgun, but I killing one bow hunting. He committed suicide by walking out in front of my 57 lb Black Widow PSX and took a cedar arrow with 125 gr magnus broad head.
Steven's Model 200 bolt action in 300 Win Mag. I've loaded some 110 grain HP's that should be pushing around 3,400 fps.
I've never taken a coyote, but hope to in the next month or so. I figure those 110 grain loads will do the job on groundhogs too.
