What are your favorite 9mm BE-86 load for 115grn RN bullet? I will be shooting Berry's. I just scored big time on BE-86 so I now have enough BE-86 to load a long long long time!

I don't have anything to add, but I'll be interested to see what others post. I like having one powder to load 9mm, .40, and .44 with. To date I have been using 231, but I've been seeing BE-86 for great prices, and a little research shows that if I wanted to pump my light loads up a bit, it would work well for that. Seems like a good do-all type pistol powder, if reviews are good, I may have to pick some up and give it a try.

I was using HP38/Win 231 and recently switched to BE86. I also recently moved so my notebook is still packed. I will say that I like 124gr over 115. The 124/BE86 combo IMHO seems to have a recoil that isn’t as harsh or snappy. To me it seems more of a controlled push which I really like.

Kgpcr, congrats. I’m jealous. BE86 is a great powder and people rave about it. I normally get turned off by so much hype but in this case it seems to be warranted.

Do a search as there are several threads on this and to Alliants web page as they have load data there. They’ll also send you a free reloading guide that has many of their powders.

General warning/reminder:
I suggest the search not to give you exact load data but so you can see the range folks use. Never trust loads from the web. Instead double and triple check them against the manufacturers, bullet bakers and other reliable sources.

My "Go To" load for 9mm and BE-86 is 5.4gr over 115gr RN at 1.135.

However, you will want to start at 10% less and work your way up to see what safely shoots best in your pistol.

As was mentioned by azjohn, there is a great deal of testing information provided by bds and others regarding BE-86 on this forum. BE-86 is fast becoming one of my favorite powders.

Just do a quick search and you should find several links to the information you are looking for.

See the BE 86 thread as mentioned. A member also went to the trouble to put together a spread sheet with results, but that needs to be updated with the recent influx of info. The spreadsheet is in the thread.
Went back and looked, post #780
Wonder if Tightgroup is aware of the monster thread he created??

Oh god..... I have to read through that thread again to load the info into the spreadsheet? Damn all of you for your continued testing.

KGPCR, I do not load in 115 grain, only MBC125gr cone. What I have found though, is that it has a huge range. I believe I have gone as low as 4.2 grains and as high as 5.2 grains at an OAL of 1.110 and 1.130. Many folks are loading higher ranges, 5.6 and 5.8 I believe. I have settled on OAL of 1.110 because of one of the chambers in our guns.

I may have some data in that spreadsheet for 115 grain, so take a peek. I think somebody was loading 6.1gr (fmj). Get some and do some loads and report your findings so I can input it for others.

Pete
