I'm considering of getting a shoulder holster for carry around the house in case of an "incident". I work from home sometimes and when watching ESPN my couch is right by the front door. I have a CZ-82, Makarov, and 1911 but I'm wondering what would fit the bill. I have good self defense ammunition for the Mak and CZ, not just the surplus stuff.

Most of the time my LCP is in a pocket holster in my back pocket. Very comfortable, just like you have your wallet on you

Well I was hoping to use a pistol I have in the safe already, since my 2010 funds will be going elsewhere (think Yankee Hill)

Well in past places I've lived I've had two skinheads with knives in my living room and more recently found somebody trying to jimmy my back door with a screwdriver. Needles to say I wouldn't want to be sitting downstairs with the boomsticks in the safe upstairs.

Do you carry a pistol normally? If so, whats the problem? :)

Paranoid are we?
I'm not. But then again, I always have a gun on me when I'm awake, and close by while I sleep. The two 120 pound Rotties running around dont hurt either. Well, they are a PITA at night. You have to get your spot in bed quick or its a fight. :)

For me it comes down to three choices.

1. 1911: Powerful yet I've seen some argument here on the boards about carrying cocked and locked.

2. Makarov: Reliable yet only 8 rounds in the magazine.

3. CZ-82: High capacity magazine but it needs some new night sights.

I always carry around the house. And I bet I live in one of the safest places on the earth. Some of us LIKE to carry when we are at home. Why not? If carrying around the house is not something your into, or you find it to be an inconvenience thats cool... just don't poke fun at someone else because they feel the need.

Unless of course you were joking, in which case I will unbunch my panties. :)

PS... when home I carry OWB, strong side... which ever gun I feel like.

No need to carry in the house...

Set up the M2HB in the living room and I can shoot through any part of the house that I need to.

Sure, the hot, ejected .50 caliber brass puts dents in the drywall, knocks the lamps off of the end tables and scorches the carpeting in the living room. The muzzle flash only occasionally sets the curtains on fire and scorches the paint off of the walls while the concussion from the muzzle blast blows out the windows.

But getting the melted carpet off of the brass for reloading is the real pain in the butt.

It's worth it though...

Just kiddin'

Actually...I believe my roomie does have an M2HB in the safe back in Texas. Not to mention some other belt-fed goodies. I can just imagine the look an a BG's face.

My Google-fu has turned up some nice CZ-82 holsters and I may go that route. To me it's much lighter then my 1911 and will be easier to walk around the house in.

Here ya go:

Next question...

home carry

If you have a gun small enough to fit in your pocket, than that is what I would use. Otherwise, you could stash one in the sofa cushions.

Of those three, go with whichever one you're most comfortable with. I lean towards the 1911, but not if you haven't become well-acquainted with its manual of arms.

Big Bear or Silver Bear sell JHP in 9MM Mak. Either the Mak or CZ would be fine in a regular OWB belt holster. Test the JHP iin the one you want to carry and use that.

I really enjoy the trigger on the CZ so once I get some better sights on it I'll be carrying it a lot more often. Plus I have a couple boxes of Hornady self-defense ammunition for when I'm not practicing.
