Till getting into HK USP's I had shot untold #'s of 200gr LWSC mainly the HG #68 design from commercial casters. I have tried 230gr RNL too for 1911 platforms and 625's just for speedy reloads with full moon clips.

The 185 grain Taurus Hex. I bought 6 boxes when I could and will experiment with Corbon DPX.

200 LSWC, this year I shot a little over 9K of them. These were mostly commercial since I couldn't keep up with casting.

So far I've shot the most of 185 gr Mag-Tech Guardian Gold JHPs. They've just been the most accurate so far. Plus the huge hollowpoint cuts nice holes in the paper. I'm going to try some 230 gr Precision Bullets RNFP and some Berry's 200 gr SWC and see how they do.

Cast Bullet Supplier

If you don't cast your own and are looking for quality bullets, I've had great success with the bullets from Midstates Cast Bullets from Kansas. I've shot most of the 38's and especially like the double end wadcutters and the 200 gr. .45's really bring out the best in my .45's for PPC.
The prices on the web site also include shipping and his prices beat most others even when shipped to you. The web site is: http://www.carrollsweb.com/gunshop/html/custom_swaged_bullets.html

200GR Lead SWC 80% (In everything but the XD45)
185GR JHP 20% (In the XD45)

I like the XD but it doesn't like SWCs.

Just a note, the 200 grain Lee TL bullet has a nice rounded nose profile, not a sharp edged shoulder. It will feed in any gun that will feed ball, but I had to seat it out a tad in my AMT Hardballer to get enough OAL. If seated any shorter, I had problems with it, but seated out a little, it fed and didn't interfere with head spacing.

1911s can be a PITA to reload for using SWC bullets. The Lee is one design that does work.

It would appear from this poll that while we may carry jacketed expanding ammo we tend to practice or at least shooot significantly more ball or LSWC. I would assume price becomes an issue.

Take Care
