I just bought 2 Remington 770 243s. The specs for the first is: 22" 9 1/8" twist.

The second is: 20" 9 1/8" twist.

I would assume both would use the same bullet. What grain is best for this rifle?

I would guess you are good to go for about any bullet weight. Mine is 9.5" and I know it will shoot the 105 gr just fine. I would guess you can go to the 115 gr as well if you want. I haven't even seen those and don't need them. I haven't loaded below 75 gr yet, that is plenty light for me.

I have a Stevens model 200 in 243 and have had good results with Hornady V-max in 58 and 87 grain weights. Had nothing but trouble with Midways 55 grain dogtown bullets but don't think it is the weight that is the problem

Best Bullet Weight for 243win is 80 to 85gr & IMR or H 4350

Great accuracy with 68gr to 90gr with a 1-10 twist. Its the length of the bullet that matters. Sierra & Berger list the twist that works best with the heavy/long bullets. If Sierra does not list a twist, the bullet will work in 1-10 or 9 1/8 twist.
#1570 6mm .243 Caliber (.243) 107 gr. HPBT Match (100 bullets)

Please Note!! This bullet requires a 1x7" to 1x8" twist barrel.

This RIGHT answer is, "what are you going to use the gun for?" Big game"? Targets"? Varmits"?

Normal bullets for the .243 run from about 60 gr. up to 105 gr. If your barrel is good you should find a few in there that will work well but which depends on your rifle, not our guessing.
