My guess would be that .45 ACP is probably a lot more common among gun aficionados (like those who post on gun forums) than the general population of gun owners, among whom .25 ACP and other small calibers are likely to be more common than 9mm and larger calibers.
I was going to create an entirely new poll, but this is much, much better!
Resurrecting dead thread!
I've always been curious as to which was the most popular caliber, and I'm very surprised at a couple things: (1) I figured 9x19mm would be far and away most popular, (2) .38 Special has more votes than .40 S&W , (3) .45 ACP is still going strong!
I carry different calibers for different needs,...differing days and weather considerations,....but the absolute most often carried is .380 with a Keltec P3AT that is in my pocket almost every day.
.45 ACP in either a 1911 or an XD Compact depending on what clothing I plan to wear and wear I plan to go. Surprise, surprise the 1911 conceals much better for me but sometimes I feel more comfortable with the XD (double the capacity of the 1911).
7.62x25 in a yugo m57. I only carry it with Wolf HPs. 357 magnum power in an automatic pistol was too good to resist. I would bet it is one of the most reliable autos there is(except the 1911).
I didn't vote. Not a criticism but what I carry "depends". Sometimes I have a .22 on board or a .25 in my pocket, sometimes a .32. I carry, at other times. a Makarov or a .38 Snubbie, or a Glock 36.
There's six different cartridges right there.

The pistol round that was designed to drop a man when another round just was not getting the job done. And then this new round proved itself on battlefields and streets again and again and again.
Oh, and a really beautiful pistol was designed to shoot this round out of.
