Hi Folks

I just acquired a Star B Super and I am confused as to what I got.
(Not good right??)

The slide is marked as 9 m\m P.
I assumed (bad idea right?) that meant 9 mm Parabellum.

From this site, it seems like the Star B and B Super only came in 9mm Parabellum.
http://www.star-firearms.com/firearms/caliber.shtml

The 9mm Largo variants were the model A pistols.

However, last night while cleaning the barrel, I thought that the chamber looked deeper than on my other 9mm parabellum pistols. I took a live 9mm round and dropped it into the chamber (NOTE: pistol was disassembled at this point. At no point was a live round chambered in the assembled pistol.)

The round dropped down much further than I expected. It went down so much the entire rim disappeared. There was no way the extractor could have gripped the rim. I had to tip the barrel upside down to get the round back out.
I have a Star Firestar in 9mm as well and the round doesn't go into the chamber nearly as far.

So then I started wondering if I ended up with a 9mm Largo instead.
The barrel is in great shape so this isn't just a case of a worn barrel.

I did some research on the net and I am finding confusing information.

Some sites like the one I linked to above mention the B models as being 9mm luger while the A model is 9mm Largo.

Does anyone have definitive information on what calibers the Star Super B came in?
How can you tell? What are the markings for each caliber?

I'm sorry there are no pictures as of yet.
I will work on getting pictures.

Thanks

Andy

Furncliff.

That's an excellent idea.
Thanks for that link.

I actually belong to that site and I forgot about it! :)

I just took my B apart to see what I could see. It looks like a 9mm cartridge case is right at 3/4 of an inch. I measured the chamber at the same 3/4". When I drop a 9mm in my barrel it stops even with the (locking?) lug at the top of the barrel. The base of the case is now flush with that lug (it's being stopped from going any farther down the barrel by the ridge at the end of the chamber).
