I hunted with Brennekes in the 80s when they had the felt wad behind the slug. They killed deer quite well.

These 2-3/4" 1-oz M.P.s have the typical sharp-shouldered slug with a gold-colored piston wad behind it in a clear shell.

Any improvement in accuracy, velocity, effectiveness on game, yadda yadda........

All the info you need is here. I've just stocked up on three cases of the Brenneke MP 2¾" slugs, courtesy of sm, and have test-fired a few of them (these are the ones with the new plastic wad). They're just as accurate for me as the older felt-wad slugs (which you can still get - scroll down on that link for details). I can group them into 4" from a rest at 100 yards using a stock-standard Remington 870 21" smoothbore IC barrel.

Avoid like the Plague. You will not like them.

You are in luck, I just happen to be Plankowner of Brenneke4Us, just a small company set up to prevent folks from buying Brenneke for our...err...their own good.

We are so dedicated to protecting folks from Brenneke, well, we sought "guidance and "blessings" in our efforts. We got our own company Clergy - Preacherman.

Our Misson Statement, is to rid shelves of Brenneke's.

Other Corp heads besides Preacherman and myself includes a Retired Resource Librarian and his PhD, wife of Statitics out in NC. There are others...

Tell you what, if you or anyone has these already, the "Charitable" thing to do would be to send these Brenneke's to Preacherman, or Lee, or me...or

Preacherman has a special deal until the end of the month. Send him your Brenneke's and in return you get a free furball with Preacherman's blessings.

Regards,

Steve

Edit : Can I get a Moderator to Delete Preacherman's post above mine, he is messing with the continuity of hoarding these Brenneke's...

So........

I guess the boxes I just bought are good for maybe throwing in the weekly trash fire and nothing else? Better they go bang that way than shoot them, right? :p

I was going to buy more but thanks for steering me clear of such horrible shotgun ammunition....

In preparation of building a bonfire and throwing all I have into it, I went out tonight and bought some more. :p

I figger that if y'all dont want them to fall into everyone's hands I should do my small part and collect up whatever I could find. They must be quite disappointing. Still, they oughta be good enough for makin' some cheap Southern M80s.

On second thought, they ain't that damn cheap. What have i gone and done????:uhoh:

Shoulda got Steve to buy you some when they were on clearance. How else could I have ended up with 150 boxes? :D

IIRC, they cost about $1.69 a box . . . yes, you're allowed to drool!

nitesite,

I think the economy Brennekes are the Kent/Brenneke K.O. slugs. Those retail for around $2.29 a box of five most places that stock them, and go for less than $2 a box when they're on sale. See http://www.outdoorsuperstore.com/st...ay~&BRENNEKE+USA~KO+SLUG~productID~293679.htm to get an idea what the box looks like.

Same Brenneke slug, just a staked-on red plastic wad in this case. They've shot well in every shotgun I have tried them in so far. I buy 'em by the case when I catch them on sale...

No, Lee, these were the Rottweil Brenneke's - not the Kent economy version. I put the low price down to Steve's seducing the salesladies at Gander Mountain! :D

Not me, would "I" do such a thing as ...err...get the best price?

Ask Larry...wait...wrong person to ask.

I "may" have some experience in selling and buying mdse.

Oh, I did not actually "sell" water to a Eskimo, still ain't real sure how an Eskimo ended up here in the South...anyway I did "exchange" a bottle of water for a trinket he had.

[Facinating man- and no the water and other stuff I gave him and his kin..he just wanted me have a trinket]

I see.

Wow- the boy did make himself quite a find then, didn't he? Getting the 'high priced spread' at econo prices is not bad at all. "Closeout" is one of my favorite words too... but my luck has never been that good.

nitesite, if you experiment a bit I think you'll find the K.O. version completely aceptable and then some, and widely available (relatively speaking) at good prices. They're a better slug by far IMHO than anything else out there at any price.

Lee my friend-
*ahem* I recall describing the box, mfg codes, Rotteweil website, and other pertinent information - including retail price, then the discount off retail price to you.

It went something akin to:

I see these things, and have the price checked 3 times, just to make sure it was not a fluke at the register. Understand I am not Catholic...

Hey Preacher!
It has been 3 wks since my last confession of finding a steal.
Have I got a deal for you, best light a candle and Hail a Money Order my way-'cause I am about to back the truck up and cause all sorts of envy, lust, jealosy among folks.

Reply:

Bless you my friend!
Thou shall have a MO post haste.
Go forth and do good works with the two wheeler
and truck bed. Do not spread the gospel of your find.
While it is written folks have to help themselves, and sometimes Divinity steps in to assist - does not mean you have to
broadcast and shove it down their throats.

I had truck bed load #1, there were 2 more truck beds of other "rewards" around the same time.

That is when I got The Calling to start up Brenneke4US
and without you [Lee] even knowing - you became a Plankowner too.

Some folks have money, others have good looks, some folks are gifted, I never make fun of Lady Luck or any talents I may have.

:)

Steve my friend,

Drain bamage is a terrible thing. I am unfortunately not able to be held responsible for remembering anything anyone tells me from one minute to the next, much less for weeks after the fact. Just ask my wife...

And as long as I can get K.O.'s for $87 a case plus $16 shipping, I'm a happy camper. And I'd _never_ complain about someone else's good fortune. Why, I never even secretly wished you a broken rear axle while you were hauling off all that heavy booty. Nosir, not even so much as a flat tire crossed my mind. Hope y'all hit everything you shoot at with 'em too.

Now if I could just get a good case-lot price on some Fiocchi low-recoil buckshot...
