What did you score in 2023?

Best deal by far was the Smith 435 a few weeks ago. I traded a non-firearm item for it that was actually pretty fair to both parties...but I only had $10 in said item. I got a few pretty decent deals along the way. $250 for an old Mossberg pursuader 12 gauge, in the original Styrofoam box. Never had the barrel installed since it left the factory, pistol grip still sealed in plastic.
The Model 55 Winchester.22 for $125 that I gave my dad. The cosmetically challenged 10/22 for $100...

I snagged a1964 Marlin 39 Carbine .22 at a gun show in the fall. I saw the lever sticking out of a rack and stopped to look at it and had no idea what I was holding. There were only about 12K made between’63 and ‘67.

I walked away and my wife kept nagging me to buy it so I backed into a corner and I looked them up in my phone and we went back and got it.

The few that have sold on the net auctions last year all went for about double what I paid.

I only bought one gun in 2023, and would not have been surprised to make it through the year without buying any. That said, I couldn't pass on this:

Wow a threaded 10/22, seems like those are hard to find!

2023 only brought me four new guns, and two were brought home in January; a Browning BL-22 lever gun, a Rem Arms 20 ga 870, a Beretta M9 and what I think was my best buy; a Springfield SA-35 for less than MSRP.

Stay safe.
How much was the SA-35?? We just noticed they are finally off allocated status from Chattanooga and our cost is $618. I think MSRP is 799?

those guns any good! i like the styling
They are really nice revolvers. Great build quality, good triggers, recessed cylinders, dehorned for concealed carry, shoot point of aim . I really want to like them but I keep reverting back to a J-frame. Familiarity I guess.

I have a 3” Model 36 that I really love, and if .38 can’t do it, I’m probably in real trouble anyways

IIRC, I paid $675 for the gun, then add the tax and DOJ fees made it just under $750 otd.

In January 2023 they were still a hard(er) to find item, I was on a wait list for over six months.

Stay safe.

Not terrible considering the CA bull y'all have to deal with...

Ya, it was pricy, but I paid much less than anyone else had them at that time.

Like many new-issue, popular guns, prices often drop to much more reasonable levels once supply catches up. I knew that going in (after waiting forever), so I’m good with the cost. Best part is I really like the gun, so an extra hundred bucks +\- has been worth it!

Stay safe.

A few guns.. Starting with this Remington 581 Target. With U.S. markings. The Army ordered a bunch of these and then decided they didn't want them...and they were sold off by the CMP. The gun was unfired, still in the wrap and complete with front sight inserts, owner's Manuel and bill of sale. It still has the long round desiccant tube in the barrel. My friend got it sometime in the late nineties. He paid $300 for it, if I remember correctly. I got for the same amount.

Yes, I am shooting it.

Next up was my Bula Armaments M-14. It came with two mags and a nice carrying case. This puppy set me back $2,700. I actually bought it in late December 2022 but it didn't come home with me until January 2nd of last year, So I hope it counts.

Lastly is my type 14 Nambu, which I consider to be the highest conditioned Type 14 on the planet. It is a 99+ gun and was never fired after leaving the factory. The inside of the gun looks like the inside of that magazine. The gun was made in November, 1935. The pre-war quality is exquisite. It makes most Luger's look ugly. The grips are mahogany.
