What did you shoot today?

Spanish Mauser again (picced above). Previous feeding issue resolved. New issue too complicated to explain, think it's resolved anyway, but need to order more ammo to test hypothesis.

Had a handgun outing yesterday. I wanted to try some trick shooting with them and also check zero on my recently acquired Blackhawk. I need more practice there, as I cut the top rail of the target stand clean in twain.

I also set up a few Qtips and cards to try to cut with the 22 and 9mm pistols. That worked fairly well so I’ll probably try it again and move farther out to find the range limit. All the rifle lanes were packed all day. It’s rare there are lines for them but I didn’t even try to get into a lane.

Took my new to me Bulgarian Makarov and Marlin 1894 in 25-20 out for a function test. Both worked great, I rather enjoy that .25-20 round from a lever rifle. Too bad its expensive to get modern ammo for. Also blew some rounds thru my Taurus TX22 and Marlin 60w

Kept all my .25-20 brass and what Makarov brass I could find

View attachment 1035285 I went trap shooting and brought a mid 70s Baikal IJ-58 MA side by side. First round was 22 out of 25. Then a couple of 23s. The Baikal has extra full chokes so I'm pretty happy with those scores.

Nice. A Baikal was my first shotgun, an IJ43 (single trigger), 26 inch barrel. I have had it nearly 30 years. Like you, I had good experiences with it shooting Trap. Mine started doubling and I have not been able to fix it.

Civilian Sig P225 (proofed in Kiel). The original, German "civilian" 225 is .....Not.... a P6.
The actual 225's DA trigger is much better than the Unmodified P6 triggers (created for police and federal agents - not just those in Germany).

My Taurus G2C and S&W 642. Joined a closer indoor range for pistol work. I don't mind going out in the cold to shoot my rifles but it's just not as enjoyable to be standing in the wind trying to manipulate a handgun in 40 deg weather. Plus going early on a weekday morning keeps me away from the crowds seen on the weekends. I was alone for an hour so it was nice! Shot pretty well. I really like that little Taurus...the felt recoil is less than that of some full sized handguns I've shot(9mm). As for the 642, my spring set should be here today or tomorrow. Shot OK with it but the 12lb trigger isn't doing me any favors!

Today's range theme: "cops guns shootout"

Two .38 Special revolvers representing LEO sidearms of the past. S&W Model 10-5 vs. Colt Police Positive. One with actual LEO provenance, one very slightly modified from the original. Can you guess which is which?
