higher capacity (my CCW instructor says our local issue is likely to be gang related and they travel in groups).

Whether fact or not...mobs by whatever name should be considered an increasingly relevant concern.

In my area I am most likely to be attacked by a crazed drug addict/person experiencing homelessness. But with gang violence of all sorts a concern and flash mobs such as the recent one taking over the walmart in Florida...I am considering capacity as increasingly important. I need to start carrying a backup mag or go to a compact.

Watch your lane.

I started with a XDm 3.8 Compact in .40 caliber. I have no problem concealing it under an untucked t-shirt but have not come up with a tucked shirt option. There are a lot of things I like about the XDm but I have discovered I am more comfortable carrying a DA/SA hammer fired weapon over a Striker fired weapon if I am going to carry with a round in the chamber. So I have been alternating between the XDm and a Sig 239. Both fit the same holster and are virtually the same size even though the published specs indicate differences. If I can find a good solution for carrying an extra Sig magazine I will probably switch to the 239 as my main carry weapon. And no, I am not considering the 229, I feel like the 229's overall length is just a tad too long for me.

At some point in the future I will probably pick up a smaller, pocket gun or "hooker gun" as my son refers to them. But that would be more of a backup gun or formal dress gun than a primary carry. I seem to shoot the Sig 238 better than other pocket guns but prefer 9mm so I am anxious to shoot the 938 and XD-S in 9mm if they ever release the XD-S 9.

I still carry mine - a full-size 1911 - and have no intention of changing. I did a lot of research, rented a variety of guns, and even tried one on before I bought it, so I knew it would work for me before I laid out my hard-earned.

I still have my first pistol, a Beretta 92FS, which I tenaciously carried in all weather for two years before finally scrounging up enough spare cash for something else. In that case it was a H&K USP full-size .40. By comparison, the USP was a sub-compact!

Even though the Beretta is still around, many other pistols have come and gone in my quest to find the perfect carry weapon. Thanks to changing seasons, there is no one answer for it. I currently have a Beretta PX4 full-size .40, a Glock 29, and a S&W 3913 to choose from depending on the weather and/or situation.

My first carry weapon was a JA-22. I am migrating to a Ruger SP101 with a 2 inch barrel. The reliability of a revolver combined with the power of a .357 is very appealing.

My first was a Ruger SR9c, and I still use it now. Awesome compact. For My build, 5'11" and 165 lbs, I could have gone a little smaller. I wish glock made a single stack 9mm sub-compact, but I suppose a G26 would be OK.. I am now interested in the Beretta Nano. Looks like a sweet gun, but my local shop doesn't carry Beretta's.. It is definitely worth taking a look at.

It was a .40sw. I do not prefer that load in a CCW size gun. 9mm and .45acp now.

Here is my question, if you have been using the same CCW, what is it?

My first was a 36-1 3" J frame .38 given to me by my dad. There have been quite a number of firearms in and out of my possession over the years, but that one is still here. In fact, it's right next to me as I type, and I'm not short on options at this point. Some things are classic because they still fit the bill, even decades later.

I've had a few different CCW's over the years but my longest running was a P239. Because of its size and weight it got retired for a J-Frame. I still carry it from time to time but it's mainly been regulated to HD and range duty.

My first ccw handgun was a s&w m39-2 back in the 70's,it was nickel plated and the finish didn't hold up as well as I thought it would.Other than that it was a fine.Ended up trading it for a colt cobra.

Still carrying my Colt 1991A1. But in the summer am now carrying a Kahr CM9 or Glock 26.

First carry a Taurus PT740 Slim. Wonderful pistol, flawless from get go. Traded it for a Ruger KLCR .357mag. Love this little revolver, best of everything for me in a accurate, reliable, powerful gun. (Sorry I didn't keep the Taurus too, though.) purchased an alternate carry in a Kahr CM9. Another wonderful flawless little pistol. Still like the Ruger KLCR best for SD carry.

I guess I really didn't answer the question. My first carry gun was a Taurus 617, .357 snub nose. The first time out it locked up and had to go back to Taurus more than once. I ended up having a local gunsmiths repair it as Taurus kept sending it back with the same issue. I carried it for a short period of time before I ditched it for an MK9.

I started with a Taurus PT111, about the same size as a Glock G26 (fit perfectly into a G26 holster). I really liked the gun, but couldn't get comfortable with IWB carry, and muggy MN summers make OWB concealment very tricky. I'm now carrying a Taurus PT738 in front pocket.

Honestly it was mostly just changing tastes. Also, new guns are always coming out...

My first gun was a Kahr P9. I didn't like the grip texture or the felt recoil. Then I had a Kel-Tec P32 (Don't laugh, I was young and dumb). That was unreliable and underpowered. Then I had a Ruger SP101 2.25". That was fine, but I didn't have a good holster for it, and the cylinder bulged against the holster and chafed my hip. Then I had a S&W 642. That was fine, but eventually I gave it up for an M&P .40 S&W full-size, which was too far in the direction of size and capacity and hard to conceal well. So I got an M&P9c, which was great for a long time.

Then I added a Ruger LCR for when the M&P9c was too heavy (mostly when running). Then I added an M&P Shield in 9mm, which has replaced the M&P9c because it's thinner, lighter, and just as comfortable to shoot.

I started with a Stoeger Couger; GREAT gun but way too big - especially in terms of thickness. For me, I found that I needed a gun that is 1) thin, 2) light weight, 3) has a short grip, and lastly 4) short barrreled since I like to pocket carry when IWB doesn't work with what I'm wearing. The gun I have stuck with and daily carried for the past 4 years or so is a Kahr PM9.

I went from a P226 .40, to a P228, to a G19. Each time the motivation was a reduction in size and weight. I've been somewhat considering picking up an M&P9c to try out, and once again, it would be a step down in overall size.
