I voted 1911, as I just put a SS Colt 1991A1 on layaway. After I go thru the normal breakin and such, it will become my carry piece.

Most of the time: SA gov't 1911

Every now and then: Kahr MK40 (not including carrying as a backup.)

H&K compact in 40 S&W with Trijicon night sights loaded up with Corbon 135 gr HP's. This works for me................

I voted Kahr, but I have been carrying my Makarov a little lately. I am getting a custom rig from PRCCCW soon and that will make it possible to carry my CZ P-01 often.

Sometimes a 1911 (5" .45acp), sometimes a S&W 640 (.38 spl.) or Springfield XD-9. It depends alot on the weather, how I'm dressed, & where I'm going. Generally, the 1911 in winter & 640 in summer.

I happen to carry a Taurus 617 revolver, as my name states. Seven shots is plenty for me and in .357, there's plenty of knockdown power. Good hiking gun!

Carry a 3rd Gen Glock 19 with meps on it. (I actually LIKE the finger grooves)

Just started carrying...

Two choices, working out which works best under which situations:

1) Bulgarian Makarov 9x18mm (8 rnd)
2) S&W 6906 9mm (12 rnd)

Why? Both were cheap to acquire, cheap to maintain, cheap to practice with, and reliable and accurate as hell.

I qualified for my CHL with the 6906 and scored 498 out of 500 on the TX DPS test (admittedly not all that hard, but my score was in the 90+ percentile).

Ok... that last point was pretty well off topic, but I just got my CHL and I'm feeling pretty good about myself. Don't worry - I won't let it go to my head.

Cheers.

I carry a Glock 19, and I also carry a Kimber Custom Classic 5". Both (Side strong) in a milt sparks watch six.
