Just curious what folks are using these days. I have Golden Saber 124gr +P JHPs in my P95, and a mag of WWB personal protection 147gr JHP as a back up.

Feel free to give us the details on your ammo of choice in your post.

Winchester Ranger, 127 grain, +p+, T-series. There's nothing wrong with that Golden Saber though. Almost all the modern premium stuff is fairly equal.

I tend to agree with you Snow. I purchased the Golden Sabers since I got a good deal on them and not due to any type of brand allegiance.

99% of the time I carry hornady critical defense in all calibers. Every now and then I'll carry Corbon Power Balls in the 45 acp but they are hard to find around here now.

When I lived in the city I kept 115gr Critical Defense in mine. After I moved to the country I switched to 124gr Federal HST (standard pressure). If my little Kel-Tec P11's were rated for a steady diet of +P I would have switched to 147gr +P and, if/when I replace the P11's, then It'll be with pistols capable of firing 147gr +P without worry.

Looks like the 124 grainers are taking the lead....don't forget to post what brand of ammo you carry as well as answer the poll...thanks guys.

124 gr Speer Gold Dots, though looking at switching to Hornady XTP or Critical Defense

Right now I use 124gr +p GOld dots, because I bought a few boxes of them for a great deal a couple years back.
When it comes time to switch, I'd like to switch out to 147gr HST. The reports I've seen on the modern 147gr rounds have been really impressive.

125gr Barnes (in CorBon DPX)

CORBON%20DPX.jpg

Caliber: 9mm Luger Plus P
Bullet Wt.: 125gr CORBON Self-Defense JHP
Velocity: 1250fps
Energy: 434ftlbs
Test Barrel Length: 4.0 Inches

I load all my SD pistols with Barnes Bullets

I use 124gr +P Gold Dots but..

Based on the FBI test demands there are many different ones that give the 12-14" penetration that is required and .53" in expansion through layers of denim fabric on a consistent basis in ballistic gel. All of the major ammo companies are making ammunition that reflect the FBI requirement and in most cases, exceed it. Take your pick: Winchester Ranger, Winchester PDX1, Remington Goden Saber, Speer Gold Dots, Federal HydraShoks, Hornady XTP, Corbon, and many others qualify. Twenty years ago it was not this way at all.

I mainly use corbon in all my pistols and my 9mm in no exception. But I also have 100 rounds of winchester ranger +p+. And many other loads. My 9mm is a walther PPS.

124gr +p golddots or 147gr Ranger T series I let the gun choose which weight it want's to shoot POA.

Doc 540 you have a link to 125gr DPX 9mm all I find is 115gr

FMJ only because its a military surplus pistol and I've never shot JHP through it before. It only sits in my pistol safe loaded but my XD40 is my go to gun.
