What do you feed your family?

I can easily see myself with 20 or more different calibers in the next ten years. I would probably have a box or two of hunting ammo for 15 of them and reload for the rest. Something like hunting guns and fun guns that get shot. That and I'm not shooting my 10 gauge single again so all I have is 5 shells for it and I will have 5 shells for it when I die. Assuming no zombie assaults. For now:
.22 short
.22 lr
.38
.308
.410-yeah that's right it's a caliber not a gauge
7.62x39
7.62x54r
7.62x53r hmm...somebody owns a Finn Mosin
20 gauge
12 gauge
10 gauge

I have been trying to whittle down the number of rounds I have to support, Currently:

22lr
22 WMR
17 HMR
22 Hornet
22 K-hornet
223
6.5 Grendel
260 Remington
6.8 SPC
308
30-30
375 H&H
416 Rigby
45 NE
458 Lott
470 NE
577 NE
7.62 Nagant
38spl/357
9mm
9mm Bergmann-Bayard
9mm Steyr
40 S&W
10mm
41Mag
44mag
454
410
12 Gauge

.cheese. is right. Too many calibers is a headache.

Not including antiques that never get shot, nor BP guns.

I'm on board with GunTech's program of whittling it down. In the last year I have have gotten out of the 9mm Luger, .38, and 30-30 business. Got rid of a .270 a few years ago. The 45 monster keeps knocking at my door, but I am trying to keep him locked out.

This helps me sleep better at night...since I am an ammo junkie and can't sleep anytime I get below a thousand rounds or so for any given caliber.

I'd love to have a smaller variety of ammo to deal with, but there aren't many guns I could stand to get rid of (only the AMT Backup 380:barf:).

About half of them were inherited and I feel like getting rid of them would be stealing from the family legacy that my son will inherit one day.

I have consolidated

.22lr
9mm
.17HMR
.45 ACP
.45 Colt
.45-70
.270
.30-06
.308
.223
.38 Special
.357
12 Gu

I stopped shooting and sold off all my .40 S&W, .44Mag, .44 Spec.

I have thought about axing the 40 also but there is something about that caliber that keeps me coming back.

22LR
32 S&W
9mm
38 Special
357 Mag
40 S&W
45ACP
45LC
17-222
223
308
30-06

I reload all of those except 32 S&W (don't have the dies YET). If I were to consolidate it would look like this:

22LR
45ACP
45LC
223
308
30-06

This is it for now.
.22lr
.22 magnum
.223
.243
.270
30-06
7.5x55 swiss
7.62x54 r
12ga

In the future I will add a 20ga and maybe 7mm-08 but before that happens I need to get the dies and stuff for all my centerfires, well all but the 7.62x54.I am only reloading for the 223 and 30-06 at the moment.

I have a strange family. All of them I have to call "Mister", in some form or other. I guess it's an old-world thing. But many of them are very finicky when it comes to food.

Gospodin Mauser--Though he is a native of the former country of Yugoslavia, born in 1948, Gospodin Mauser loves German food. 8mm Mauser for him.

Mr. Smith--He prefers the very odd nickname of Fifty-nine oh-six, for some reason. (Maybe he's like 007!)He never has a digestion problem as long as he has 9mm Para.

Monsieur MAB--No idea why he likes his name capitalized, but he also has a strange nickname: P15. He's a French native who also digests German food very well. 9mm Luger.

Signore Uberti--Though born in Italy, he looks classically American and prefers American food. He lets friends call him "Peacemaker." .45 Colt for him.

Signore Beretta--Is old-school European who says he was born in Italy in 1955, though I suspect he may have been born in 1935. Remarkably well preserved for an old gent, but he likes what he calls 7.65. I substitute .32 ACP and the old gentleman never knows the difference.

Family.
Gotta love 'em!
