What do you guys do with the 1 or 2 extra bullets you usually get in a box of a hundred?

Get the primers needed out of a new box, or just set a side for later use?

Never had things come out even. If more primers are needed add them. If some are left over they go in next round of loading. I run one press small primer and one press large so it doesnt matter other than rifle or pistol.

Pretty soon it won't matter at all, you will only have 263 pieces of brass in one caliber and 127 in another. I try to load all of my empty brass at one time. leaving whatever left over bullets and primers as that allows. In my case it is the brass that limits me, not the other components. When I shoot I don't shoot even numbers either, so it will be moot.

I load 9mm. With several thousand bullets, primers, and brass on hand it never comes up.

What do you reload that you only buy 100 at a time?

Come to think of it?

I get the primers out of another box.

I have had a running partial box of all 4 primer types for at least 50 years.

I use them up the next time, and start taking extras out of another flat when I need them..
Usually write how many are left in the flat with a pen so I can come out even the next time.

But I seldom if ever do.

Due to a Series of Unfortunate Events, of some kind!

Toss them into the next box of bullets and roll on! I figure every few tens of thousands I end up with a "free" box!

If the situation ever comes up,

"Get the primers needed out of a new box,"

It is actually a rare thing to load 100 of anything anyway, since I cast and have buckets of bullets, and buy primers by the 1000. When I load, I just load a bunch of brass. Whatever is needed or whatever I am in the mood for. If the primers don't come out even who cares, pick it up where you left off next round.

I purchase my pistol bullets in bulk from XTreme in lots of 4-5k. I usually end up with a hand full extra each time. Most of the time I set them aside til I get enough to load em up for a match. I usually store my loads in zip lock plastic containers in lots of 200. I have about 75+ Bullets on my bench that were extras over the last 9 months. You could also use them for load work ups. I usually have a half tray of primers in SPP, LPP, or SRP that I use for load work ups, or taking one here or there for what ever reason like RC.

I cast 95% of what I shoot and tend to lube up a couple handfulls with alox trying to not lube up "too many" to have a bunch of sticky bullets sitting around before range day. I always come home with extra brass... sometimes 50 pieces, others 250 pieces- I load those up to get closer to my magic number of rounds of loaded ammo per caliber I want to keep on hand.

45 and 38spl I load up and bag a hundred at a time for easy grab bags to run out to the range. In each bag I throw a strip of paper with the powder, charge, date of loading and general notes on alloy used... batch my lead as I batch my ammo. If I come home from shooting a hundred rounds of each and have say 175 pieces of each brass I will just load and bag a hundred of each.

I don't like having odds and ends handloads laying around, it gets all too confusing having 78 round batches of random dates when you take 100 round bags to the range. even more so when you add 22 rounds from a newer loading session to bump it up to 100... I guess its like handing Jerry Miculek a 627 and say do your thing... he's just gonna shoot 6.

I used to have mild panic attacks if I found a few empty casings that weren't loaded even though I had the components. My last batch of lead was not working out for 38spl no matter what I tried lead to the elephant in the room which is ~2200 primed sized and ready to go 38 cases that have been building up on the bench this year

101 rounds would really throw a wrench in my gears.

I load most of them, but I have a box of all kinds of different bullets that are labled. This comes in handy sometimes.

Exactly, that is what I do.

I just dawned on me yesterday what I have been doing. So I thought I would ask what other people do.

Bullets I also just put in the next box.
For primers, I keep a couple of extra primer flipper, one for small pistol and one for large pistol. My extras go in there and I fill in for lost, damaged, ect. from there.

Not a big deal. Like RC and others have said, over the years you gain a few and lose a few of everything. In the overall scheme of things, an extra bullet here and there don't make much of a difference.

I operate in multiples of 1000, although I may not load 1000 in a single day :)

Reach into the next set until something comes out even or I encounter some other issue that bring me to a halt.

Not an issue for me really...I always have several thousand pieces of 9,40 and 45 cleaned and ready to go so I really just stop when I run out of primers. I typically do batches of 1000, or 2000 so more limited on primers and bullets. I load 5.56 in batches of 2000 or more because the set up and brass prep is such a pain I like to do a lot all together and then just jam on the Dillon till my arm falls off. Hunting calibers like .243, 25-06, .270 and 30-06 I could see things like a few extra coming into play and in this case I just do the same thing....load till I run out of primers since I really am not limited on brass or bullets for hunting calibers.

Wow, you must really go nuts when you lose a primer in the carpet. :)

I have a partial box of every one of my primer types. Just part of the game.

I was helping out at sight-in at the range yesterday, anyone shooting '06, I kindly asked if they reloaded. "Nope, you can have them." So, I gathered up what was on the table, put them in a plastic bag and dragged 'em home.... all 227 of them. lol Now, I'm not fussy about the numbers, I've got once fired brass, thats all I was after. I'll let the numbers work themselves out at the time I reload them, I've got plenty of primers too.

What do you do with hotdogs and the unequal number of buns in a package? Mine all get eaten one way or another. :)

I load in bulk, so it's a continuous stream not individual bullets and primers. If either run out, get more.

Ha. I've only been loading for about 3-4 years but I've had a partial box of primers in every size ever since.

As far as what I do with the few bullets left over from a box, I either toss them in the next box or if I don't have another box, wait till I do and merge them then.

i load em up and chute them.
Buy your primers 10K at a time,
powder at 8lb and then your lot
numbers are the same, just load
up any extras and your good.
those extra 2 bullets shoot just
as good as the rest.
