45 Colt...Yikes!

FWIW my Ruger only loads for my older Blackhawk that I use is a 250 grain jacketed with18.6 grains of 2400. I have used both regular and magnum primers with this load without piercing primers. It compares to a stiff 44 MAG load when I shoot it. The Speer manual says 19.9 grains will give you just under 25,000 CUP which is the max for Ruger only loads. In comparison the regular 45 colt loads have a max of 15,900 CUP. So if you are having problems with regular loads I would suspect the revolver first. With the cavat that you are NOT crushing the trail boss when loading iit. My .02 c

DO NOT USE THESE LOADS IN A REGULAR 45 COLT REVOLVER. THEY ARE RUGER ONLY.

Someone needs to present me with The High Road big dummy award as I did not put two and two together. First cylinder out in the Uberti today the cylinder pin walked out under recoil and I almost pierced a primer and had heavy primer strikes. Pushed that sucker in and made sure it was secure and fixed everything. I remember the pin walking out a couple of times the other day when I pierced the primers. Even fired some of my reloads and they look fine. New pistol is very accurate and I love it. Thanks everyone for the great advice!

The pin nose is too blunt, that corner is sharp!

Round, don't shorten, it. Look at your other pistols for reference.

glad you found the problem without too much fuss.

you may want to put a stronger base pin latch spring in that gun to try and prevent the base pin from walking out. base pins are not supposed to walk out of the frame like that.
