My next trip to the range will be interesting. I plan to carry a 1911, glock 17 and 37, a S&W 4" 629 [reduced to 900 fps/240 lswc], a S&W 64, a Dan Wesson 6 inch 357 and a CZ 83. each will be fired the same number of rounds, as fast as I can regain a sight picture. Compitition beween handguns will be judged on accuracy and speed. Each round will begin from low ready. I have done a simular test like this before. The CZ 83 rules, but the Dan Wesson and 1911 was very close to the CZ. Just wondering, have you tried a simular comparison?

For speed AND accuracy and just plain zen with the gun, my favorite is my Ruger P90. I shoot it just as well as my very accurate revolvers slow fire, but when things speed up, the gun just feels like part of my arm and I can, of course, reload it much quicker than I can a revolver. I'm not exactly Jerry Miculek with speedloader. :banghead:

I've owned two 1911s and shot one of 'em pretty well, but I never got that zen going with it that I have with the P90. I won some shoots with it, though. It was an adequately accurate gun, 2 in at 25 yards accurate, and the light SA trigger on the first shot may be better for you if you're really not into DA. I would THINK, just guessing and from my own experience, you will shoot the 1911 best, depending, of course, on the accuracy potential of said 1911. If it's not particularly accurate and you can shoot DA well, you might find one of the revolvers will beat it, at least up to six shots. From there, you're on your own. LOL!

For me, the handgun I shoot best with in rapid fire is my CZ-97B loaded with 185gr LSWC ammo. The gun I'm most accurate in slow fire at 25 yards is probably by slightly tuned S&W 586 with 6" barrel loaded with 148gr LHBWC ammo.

I am actually most accurate (at this time) with my Sig P239 .40 S&W. This gun performs very well to beat out my Norinco 1911, Springfield "Loaded" GI 1911, Kimber Rimfire Targer, HK USP fullsize .45ACP, Glock 29 10mm and 4" S&W 500.

Hk USP 45

With my HK I can dump a mag as fast as the muzzle gets back on target and keep all shots on a person sized silhouette. My plain-jane 1911 and 92FS are close seconds.

For me, it's:

No, it's:

On revolver days it's the CT equipped Airweight Bodyguard.. On the pistol days it's the Sig....

Too many options.

CZ 83 You gotta LUV em

The little CZ83 - :what: great little gun, very accurate. I will add one to the collection. Every CZ I have handled has felt good in my hand, but this little CZ83 is really special. Very smooth trigger all the way back to the break point, no herky - jerky. Am I alone on this on or what???

The CZ83 = ez carry, concealment piece.

MOST accurate that I own today = ?????

I shoot every week at least once, 1-3 hours per session. Shoot all types of pistols, both wheel & auto loaders. I usually take one rifle with me as well. I strive to be equally proficient with all my guns. I take every opportunity to shoot my carry type guns each range day. My GLOCK 21, I try to fire every time I go the the range, it is my primary carry in the truck so practice practice practice w/ this one. My second choice to carry is a S&W 686 in the .357 flavor. I suppose those two would be my all around favorite, so they get the most of my trigger time, = most comfortable = most accurate.

If you feel challenged by one, work w/ it until you achieve a level of proficiency. You don' have to hit 10 straight in the X ring, but get comfortable as your confidence grows. ;)

I would have to say my ParaOrdinance P14.45. Whether it is quality or just the fit of the wider grip, I shot it better than all my other pistols the first time I shot it.

most accurate

From a rest, Series 80 Gov'ment. Hand held, Para P12. (I was surprised.)

Colt Police Positive Special firing 158 wadcutters. In a bullseye stance I could get quarter size groups at 25 yards over and over again. Fantastic handgun. Among semis the Sig P225 was for me the most accurate.

Those that know me would agree I "shoot the bull" the best... :neener:

After that... a 1911 platform, specifically my 1918 Springfield/Colt, and my Kimber Pro Carry SLE...

Although, I've really taken a liking to the XD-45 now...

Another one for a Colt Police Positive (with 158s). I can't shoot like Cosmoline (yet ;)), but it's the handgun I'm best with. It's also the most fun handgun I have, for both me and my girlfriend. I carry a Detective Special, so the similarity is nice indeed.

I wish I could shoot like that with all wheelguns! That's one I really regret getting rid of :fire: It was a banged up second generation PPS with cracked and repaired New Orleans Pimp stocks but it shot like a dream.

I'am a decent shot with my 3" 65-3 and my
3" 10-7.I'am not quite as good with any of
my J frames but i'am getting there.

Interesting. I've recently decided to run a similar test with my pistols. Have never run a speed drill with any of my guns, but for consistent shooting and tightest groups, my 629 classic full of 44 specials is the most precise weapon I own. I have a 32 Tomcat, Kimber compact 45, a BHP 9mm, a couple J frame Smith 38s, a 586 and a SP101 357. Haven't shot much with my pistols recently and plan to take each out soon and do a comparison test to decide which one I really ought to carry and which one I'll place in the nightstand. Obviously I have some redundancy in my collection, as several of these models serve equally well in their category/class, (Hey, I like pistols!) but I really should carry the best performer and put my best big pistol in the nightstand at the ready. Will be interesting to see.
