What does owning a 10mm caliber offer to the .45 ACP owner ?

OK, Here is your answer....
Since I have owned A multitude of 1911's and an EAA Witness in 10mm.
The EAIRLY 1911 10mm's weren't strong enough, and beat the crap outta the frames and slides. I do not know about current production stuff. The Wit-less pistol is unfortunatly of the same flavor. I had the steel framed, wonder finish.
First off I LOVED that gun. Felt better than my 1911's. The gun was fantastically accurate also. But unfortunatly that CZ copy just wasn't built for the 10mm. I suspect that it is a 40 pistol that someone thought "Hey a 10 is about the same". Well kind of.....

If you look at off the shelf ammo, most of the loads are basically the same as the Small & Wimpy loads. Which is also known as "10 Light".
When you load REAL 10mm pressures, and I'm not talking max, but full 10, not 40 loads the gun gets beat-up. I had to put in the Wolff spring kit. These numbers may be slightly off, but for example; Stock spring is an 18#, and to function properly it takes a 22# spring.
What ended up happening was it peened the slide badly after a few hundred rounds.

As far as the round it's self:
I do still like that round, and may be buying a Glock shortly for that reason.
If you hit a rock chuck with your 45 they die. If you shoot one with a 10mm they pop a little bit. When you shoot a master lock, you get movie results, they DO open. I personally like loading the 10mm more so than the 45's. In my personal experience they tend to not be as pickey when building loads.

my $.02
