I picked up this fella the other day I was wondering what your experience has been with this model. What ammo are you having good luck with? Overall I think its a nice rifle for the money, and it seems it will do what it is designed for quite well. Are there any aftermarket mags, or triggers?
I own the same gun. Jammed a bit when I first bought it but never jams now. Not quite as accurate as Ruger 10/22 I owned but close enough and I like it better. Ruger always felt bulky in my hands. Have to admit I am a Savage Stevens lover having owned eight of them starting with a model 26 crackshot as a boy. If I could change anything about the gun I would push the balance forward just a tiny bit and lengthen the stock a bit, but then I am quite tall and nothing really fits me well out of the box. Get genuine 2.5 inch groups at 100 yards with no wind and a good scope, no rest except for elbows on knees. Enjoy your gun and the day.
Addendum- I stated on another thread that I shot above groups with Winchester Wildcat ammo. Had a few flyers but other than that acceptable. However, bought a brick of Remington Lightening ammo. 75 yards, near perfect. One group .625. No shots out of the nine ring. No group bigger than 1.25 inches. Moved target to 150 yards for a kick. Could barely stay on the paper. Shot a friend's sixty year old Remington Bolt action a week ago with a good scope and Wildcat ammo and held four to six inches. Noticed that the Remington cases came out burned on one side. Gun could be finicky about what it eats. Anyway, inside one hundred yards no squirrel lives
