I am thinking about getting an ACE AR-15 skeleton stock. I would get the full length one not the short one. I have some questions.

What is a good price.

Does it use standard buffer and tube?

What is the quality like? (I have never seen one in person).

Are there other makes of this type of stock? If there are, who makes them and which one is considered the best?

Is it heavier or lighter than the standard A2 stock?

Where is the best place to find one?

If you have had one, what did you like/not like about it?

Thanks.

good price ? $70

std tube?? yes

Quality?? good to ex

weight??? lighter

buy at?? Del ton or Midway ---if they ever get them in stock

Have one on my Bushy shorty and will be getting another for my mixed parts bastard red headed step child AR---when I get the bucks up.

What is a good price.
-seen $75-$110

Does it use standard buffer and tube?
-full length uses standard tube/buffer, short "entry" stock uses CAR bits

What is the quality like? (I have never seen one in person).
-don't have mine yet, heard all good things

Are there other makes of this type of stock? If there are, who makes them and which one is considered the best?
-best to head over to AR15.com

Is it heavier or lighter than the standard A2 stock?
-lighter than A2 stock by a few ounces

Where is the best place to find one?
-I shopped the vendors on AR15.com..got it new for $75. Could maybe find used if patient.

If you have had one, what did you like/not like about it?
-should get it this week

I like the looks , but what I don't like is that there is no storage from what I can tell. If I have an AR set up as my go to rifle I want the coveinece of haveing all of the cleaning stuff with the rifle at all times .

When I asked what a good price would be, I was assuming you could buy the stock without the buffer tube and spring. Is that right? Can you get just the stock and put it on your A2? I gots to get me one of these stocks!

I am going to have a Rock River compleat lower and a Bushmaster Dissipator compleat upper and I think the ACE stock would look great with the Dissipator upper. I have never seen an AR done up like that so it should be cool.

Is anyone interested in the single tube stock ?

This one:

"AR15 Ultra Lite Stock. The lightest AR stock ever devised! Weighs only 142g
( approximately 5 oz )! An AR15 A2 stock weighs 390g ( 14 oz.) This stock also uses ACE's original soft foam over tube for the ultimate cheek weld. A billet machined gusset reinforces the receiver extension tube at it's weakest point- directly behind the receiver. Said gusset also sports an 1 1/4" ambidextrous QD sling swivel. The precision machined aluminum butt clamps directly to the end of the receiver extension tube and also provides a machined in sling mount. Curved rubber recoil pad included. Receiver extension tube, buffer & spring not included. Post ban compliant! "

One thing to remember about a lightweight stock os that it will change the balance quite a bit unless you go with a lightweight barrel as well. The AR15 is already a bit front heavy naturally. A lightweight stock and the usually marketed heavy barrel will really make for a front-heavy balance.

I have the "Long SOCOM" on my Open AR15, and the standard "Skeleton" stock on my AR10. The SOCOM is a full replacement for the issue stock and buffer tube assembly. The Skeleton needs the original buffer tube.

I'm very fond of both stocks, but I like the SOCOM better. The butt is a bit wider, and being ajustable is just too handy (I'm 6'3 and my wife is 5'7"...and we both shoot 3-gun. Lots cheaper to share a rifle!).

I'd buy either one again. No help on "where", though...I bought both of mine directly from ACE at the last SHOT show. Nice guy, easy to deal with.

Wakal,
The stock on your AR-10 is the one I like. It looks good on that AR-10. I am not as fond of the single tube design for some reason. Great looking guns though! I bet you spent your yearly vacation money on that AR-10! :D

Thanks!

Built 'em yourself using parts won off prize tables and they are pretty reasonable :D

I didn't like the single-tube stock much either...until I started playing with it. The length adjustment is very handy, and the shape is just right for the "right hand on the pistol grip, left hand on the stock" prone/bipod position. Not that I shoot that way much, but it is nifty.
