WHat do you think of the perennial 9vs40vs45 debates?

I think it is as much fun as watching a demolition derby. I could read the multiple threads and thousands of posts and still not know what the hell is going on. Sometimes ther threads go off somewhere.................

I still love to read them though.

A hornet's nest if there ever was one. :D

Ok, there's another equally intense debate topic: 1911 vs Glocks and other variants and combinations.

Totally enjoy participatng in them... :D:D:D

What do I think? Good to sell magazines. Me, I liked that last issue of SWAT. Great interview with Niel Morris. Can't wait for the 2nd installment. It's the stuff that The Tactical Rifle use to have before it became The Accurate Rifle.

Just wait until the new .50 S&W comes out at the SHOT show in February... then we can have a .41 Magnum vs. .44 Magnum vs. .45 Colt vs. .454 Casull vs. .475 Linebaugh vs. .480 Ruger vs. .500 Linebaugh vs. .50 S&W thread!!! I got your 9mm. vs. .45 ACP thread right there! :neener:

I think it's interesting that everyone seems to have a strong opinion on which is 'best' though very few have really have any first hand experience on what really works best.

Having said that, of course, there are lots and lots of people that know exactly how well the 45 ACP works when launched from the 1911A1 platform. ;)

I like the debates.

Sometimes they're interesting, and I never feel compelled to keep reading when they're not due to some insane hope of finding a "new" fact buried deep down in them.

I am pretty sure that if I was shot twice in the chest with any of the three:

9mm - .40S&W - .45ACP

I would fall over and not get up on my own:D

So what is the debate about??

HS/LD

BTW I carry .40

Wow my first post and I am sure this will end all debates. Go with the one that you can hit your target with. My summer carry gun is a walterppks 380 and my winter gun is a colt gov 45 .

I'm happy as long as the guy next to me is packin heat. Doesn't matter what caliber or type of weapon. Just that he has one.

I was at the gunshop the other day and a guy was buying a NAA mini .22 revolver. Me with my .45 on my hip almost blurted out.."Whatcha going to shoot with that little thing?". Instead I hushed up and commented on how neat those things were.

At least he has the presence of mind to carry one.

And well..of course .45 is better. For me that is.

Inexpensive entertainment, and much better than watching TV. Every once in a while, a nugget of information surfaces, just frequently enough to keep me "tuned in" to the topic...

I think its designed to get people to buy guns and ammo of various calibers.

I also think dove season was inspired by shotshell mfgs to sell shotshells.

Somewhere there is smart marketing dude...and he/she is rich:D

Sorry buddy, but my baby is better. M109 Series 155 mm Howitzer. Can't beat her unless you got something that floats! Baby's even got a rear view mirror and luggage rack! :D

I think it shows that the person asking the question has just begun their journey into the world of defensive handguns. Nothing wrong with being a newbie, but it does show that one is a newbie.

The only thing concrete for me that has come out of all the ones I've read for the last couple of years is a mild distaste for the word "versus".:)

Better than the AR vs Mini 14 threads, but definitely not as much fun as the SHTF .223 vs .308 rifle threads. That one gets all the kooks out to play.

Speaking of something that floats:

Game over! Well it was for Japan anyways in the above picture.:neener:
