No love for Webleys? They've been in service, in various incarnations, for 76 years.
I do like the English semi-auto Revolver and Zig-zag thing. For all I know it may be the same gun. I would say that was the most interesting revolver ever made, but I would not call it iconic. From what I have seen good sample of semi-auto contraption brings over 10,000USD.

I voted for the Colt SAA. I would have to agree that most non-gun folks would recognize the Colt from the decades of westerns - not to mention comic books and the covers of western novels. The Luger would have to be a close second along with the 1911/1911A1. These models are famous. They appear over and over in all types of media and their lines are unmistakable.

COLT SAA no doubts, all over the world people would recognize the lines of a COLT SAA even though they may just call it the cowboys pistol.

Iconic? Without question the Colt SAA.

The most prolific? S&W Military & Police/Model 10 and it's variants. It is what most people over the age of 30 visualize when they hear "police revolver." A "detective gun" can either be a snubbie M&P/Model 10 or a Colt Detective Special.

Pythons are/were too pricey and the S&W Model 29 is a "Dirty Harry" gun.

Show anyone in the world a Colt SAA, and they'll say, "Cowboy!"

Colt SAA. Defined "revolver" in history, reinforced via years of westerns.

The Luger and the 1911 are iconic pistols, but are not revolvers.

Iconic? Colt SAA. Many great revolvers out there, but the SAA is truly an icon.
