To that end I just took my first step down that long road.. I got myself an Enfield N.4 Mk.1!!

With tax it turned out at $120.

The crown and action seem to be in pretty good condition, and the rear flip-up sight is cool, although the wood is really dark and ugly looking.

Could somebody post a link to a good enfield restoration/accessory site? K THX!

I can't find the link right now but I know if you do a search for 'Enfield' in the Rifle Country here there was a thread a while back with a couple good links.

And as always, www.milsurpshooter.net is an excellent resource for all such rifles.

By the way, the Ishapore on the bottom of this pic was quite unattractive when I brought her home... she cleaned up quite nicely with mineral spirits, tung oil, FP10 and elbow grease.

You USED to be able to get one at the Old Town Trading Post, in Old Town Maine!

I think mine was so cheap because it looked like somebody played hocky with the furnature, but now that ive spent about 4 hours with sandpaper, gun scrubber, and various dental tools (not kidding!), she's starting to look alot nicer!

There's one in very decent condition at Bradis guns in Camby, Indiana for $130 or $140. If I didn't have three of them, I woulda snagged it too.
