All of my pistols are 9mm and 7.62x25 Tokarev at the moment. We'll be moving into a house in a few months and I would then like to add another caliber pistol and get a reloading setup so that I can afford to shoot it a lot. I'm really debating between 10mm and .45acp and not as much .45gap until it becomes more popular and more available. How do 10mm and .45acp compare when reloading? Approximately how cheap can you reload each? I was told by someone that they can reload .45acp down to 6 cents a round, I think 9-10 cents a round sounds doable. What about 10mm?

If I got a 10mm I think I would try to pickup a Tanfolglio Witness. What could be better than a CZ-75 in 10mm?

For a .45acp, I wouldn't go plastic, but it would be between 3 guns: CZ-97B, Sig 220 trade-in from CDNN or an entry level 1911 (probably a S/A).

Another option I have been thinking about is to continue shooting cheap 9mm reloads and get the new CZ SP-01.

The classic .45acp appeals to me for obvious reasons, but I love shooting hot cartridges (hence the 7.62x25 TOK) and I think that 10mm would be a lot of fun on the range and would also make sense to carry when camping.

Can someone who reloads and shooths both 10mm and .45acp give me some guidance?

I love my colt delta elite. then again, I love pretty much any 1911 or hi-power.
.45acp is a great round, but i think its decently priced enough that I can buy wwb and just save the brass for when i eventually reload.
10mm is ridicuously fun. If God carried a gun, I really think that would be it.
The only limitation, is your wallet.

You can reload .45 Super ammo near 10mm levels. Usually it just takes a few spring changes. Best of both worlds.

The Witness is not exactly a CZ-75. Close, but no cigar. Nothing wrong with a Witness. There are still quite a few S&W 10 series auto's out there too. Top end would be Kimber, Colt or Brent Ten for the 10MM pistols.

I'd go with a Mil Spec. That way you can tinker if you want too.

The 10MM is my primary when out in the bush. I also reload it and love it. You can make monster loads or light loads anytime. Blue Dot for bright flash, 800X for low cost rounds, AA-9 for loads with 200gr bullets and Power Pistol for, well, power :D

Just a side note, 800-X and Magnum primers should get you faster than AA#9 (or just about anything else) at safe pressures.

Don't know about the 10mm, but .45ACP is a very easy, fairly forgiving round to reload.

No such beast (AFAIK) as a 10mm CZ.

Lots of choices in .45. Lots. Somewhere on THR there's a "show off your .45" thread. Browse through that.

Yes it is that. You missed out on the CDNN Witness clearance. $269.

I used to think about getting a 45 acp. A couple 10mm's later and I could care less about 45.

Funny you should mention that, cause I have 40 rounds loaded right now with 800X under 180gr XTP and CCI mag primers.

Just havent had the time to put them thru my chonograph. Maybe Sunday if I'm lucky.

10mm all the way. It's a very addictive round--that is, if you're a power junkie. Usually, on average, I go through 200 rounds of 10 mm per week. You won't be disappointed.

The thing that strikes me about reloading for the 10mm is the dizzying array of 10mm/.40-caliber bullet-weights available - from 135gns to 220gns. (That's 135gns, 150gns, 155gns, 165gns, 170gns, 175gns, 180gns, 190gns, 200gns & 220gns).

When you factor in the 10mm's power curve within which it can push any of these bullets from mild-to-nuclear velocities - due to its longish, thick-walled case - handloading for the 10mm has it WAY over the .45acp or .45gap.
