What else besides 748 meters nicely for .308?

I've been loading my .308 with Win 748 because it meters so nicely. I do have a pound of Varget--which meters like Corn Chex--for loading the old-fashioned way, but I sure like my powder drop.

So, what else besides Win 748 is a good accurate powder for .308 (bolt action, 110 to 168 grains, out to 200 yards) and meters nicely?

Might look at BL-C(2), H380, H414, and several others.

IMR 8208xbr = meters great, shoots great.
Benchmark = meters great, a little fast for my liking.

Haven't tried them yet, but I've been told RamShot rifle powders meter well.

Varget--which meters like Corn Chex

What are you metering with? Varget will typically drop pretty good (+/- 0.3 to 0.4gr spread). Far from 'dead nuts', but not too bad for a slowish powder.

I have not tried them all, but I can report that Ramshot TAC meters extremely well.

My favorite powder is W748 in my 223 for the same reason, meters great. BLC2, TAC and the AA powders work great as mentioned above.

I tried some TAC last year cause it was cheaper than W748 ($19 vs $23 / lb) but dang if TAC hasn't gone through the roof. At last weekends gun show, $25/lb. I buy W748 by the 8lb jug, but don't shoot enough tac to justify doing that not sure why it went up so drastically here.

You don't say what kind of powder measure you use, but IMR4895 runs thru my Redding #3 quite well, and would be a great powder for your application.

+1 on TAC. Excellent powder for the .308. Close second choice is AA2520. Both feed like water, the TAC burns a bit cleaner. Actually, a lot cleaner.

I never had any metering issues with Varget at all... and it produces amazing accuracy in my 308's... and a couple of other calibers as well.. I use two different meters. An old (35yrs+-) RCBS and a Hornaday meter that is just about as old.. very consistent results..

Don't have a 200 yd range, but H335 does great in my RCBS and at 100 yds for 308 and 30-30. XBR is a little 'crunchy' and higher pressure than H335.

How much variance are you getting with the Varget? I've never used the LNL, but I would assume you could be within 0.4gr max spread; I get that or better w/ a dillon powder drop. Make sure the press is secured properly to the bench, bench sucured properly to the floor (either by weight or fasterners) and the bench is rigid/stiff.
Some of the finer grained extruded powders will meter with less than 0.2 gr max spread. Ball powders should do as good or better, if you like ball powders. H380 and H414 work good; never really cared for BallC2 too much.
