I for one have a Ruger 10/22 .22LR, Yugo M59/66 7.62x39, MAK-90 7.62x39, Hi-Point 996 Carbine 9x19, Ishapore 2A1 Jungle Carbine 7.62x51, Marlin 1894 .44Mag, Remington 870 12Gauge 3" Mag and a Mossberg 500 12 Gauge 3" Mag, both with 18 1/2" barrels. These are my core weapons, and all my others are pretty much mothballed right now. What do you guys have/plan to use?

SHTF

As my SHTF weapons I have a bushmaster CAR-15, Benelli M1, HK USP 45, and a Kimber Raptor

I've got plenty that could serve as SHTF, although, my go-to items are:

HK USP40 Variant 1, loaded with 180gr Federal Hydrashocks +1 extra mag.

Mossberg 590A1 with ghost-ring sights, 8 round magazine, loaded with Federal Tactical #4 buckshot.

16" AR-15 (Actualy post-ban Colt Match Target) with C-More reflex sight, and 20 round magazines loaded with Black Hills 40gr hollowpoint varmint loads to maximize velocity and fragmentation, while minimizing colateral penetration.

A few AKs, DPMS AR, CETME, Moss Persuader, Ruger 10/22, P95 and an 8045.

However, the real life-saver for SHTF is the water, food, and generator--the other stuff is just to keep the riff raff that only have guns from disrupting my "vacation".

Right now my go-to firearms would have to be my Yugo SKS and my SA 1911. I plan on adding a 9mm auto, .357 weelgun and maybe an 1894 in .357. Lately I've been focusing more on the food/water issue.

+1.

Guns and ammo are great to have if there is an emergency, but they aren't the most important parts of prepping.

You can't survive by eating bullets.

Oh, almost forgot. All of my firearms have purposes incase of SHTF, even my .22lr pistol and my .357 S/A revolver.

I think My Sar-1 would be great for a SHTF type situation.Where i live its got alot of trees and really couldnt see anything past 100 yards. And with a few 30 and 40 round magazines i would feel pretty good with it.And maybe my 30-06 for shots that are farther away..And my 12 gauge pump for the people breaking into my house..None of my firearms have any type of light on them so maybe i should get a light for the shotgun..

If you can "hold up", then everything you have is SHTF material.

If I had to join the state militia for the common defense, I have an AR15 and a Glock 17 (9mm) and can run off government ammo.

But - let's say you are in New Orleans after Katrina. The mayor has announced that "only the police will have guns". Your vehicle is flooded. You literally walk out with only what you can carry. In that case, I might try a "civilian carry" and avoid the black rifle. Might rely on the Winchester lever action / Ruger GP100 combo in .357/38spl and hope the police think I'm harmless enough to let buy without confiscation . Of course, I'd keep a Glock + mags hidden in the backpack in case my arms were "taken for my own protection". :uhoh:

--------------------------------------------------------

Enough to arm everyone around. Then I can be a General.:)

What I want:
Surplus bolt guns, various common calibers
SU16C
1911A1 + carbine kit
Neos22 + carbine kit (if I can ever FIND one)
AR15 heavy barrel and very light barrel upper.

I'd love to have a dozen single shot .22lr pistols if they could be had
for under 50.00 or so.

Whatever you have on-hand if/when the SHTF, is what will be your emergency/SHTF/defense weapons. Which means there is nothing specific in my collection for that situation.

However there is a "pecking order" so to speak.

If no warning to evacuate/BUG-out, then my go to weapons are a Bushmaster AR (m4 style), Glock 21, and Glock 19 (for the wife). Loaded mags for each are already in an ammo can. Another container holds gear to carry that stuff along with radios, flashlights, and batteries. By the time my wife has all the pets loaded up I can have this stuff in the SUV. Keep in mind load up time includes other supplies like food, water, cloths, etc. In this scenario, no time will be used to decide what goes, that has already been determined. Grab it and go.

I really had not given much thought as to what would be used for a bug-out until I read this thread by Halffast
The Bug Out

As far as a bug-in scenario, everything I have can be used. My wife is also able to use all the firearms except for the Glock 21 (too big, of course)

Why would you need any of that stuff??

Just call Nine One One.

L.W.

911 doesn't exist in the SHTF world. Imagine what happened when people in New Orleans called 911?

911 might answer and might take the call. That doesn't mean that there are not 10,000 other calls pending.

I was just in New Orleans and it's still a wreck in many places. It's spooky seeing whole neighborhoods with no one, no lights, no traffice lights, no cars nothing. I saw a sign on one apartment building offering an 8 unit building for sale for 200,000. Gas stations and grocery stores are few and far between. Some are working some are not. Some areas look fine though but I was where it had it the worst.

I was in Bridge City. It didn't get hit but all around it's empty.

I would have to say that my SHTF weapons would have to be my .45 colt Vaquero on my hip and my Marlin 1895GS .45/70 over my shoulder. I can't imagine much those two together could not handle.

I'm going to launch old flares down by the lake, then leave a popcorn trail leading back to my house (14 miles inland). Let's see if someone answers the call.
