I just finished sanding the barrel channel of my stock so that my barrel is now free floated.
What finish should I use to protect the wood where I sanded off the original finish?
The original finish is in great shape on the rest of the stock, so I don't want to mess with that. I just need to protect the wood under the barrel from moisture.
My primary concern is protecting the wood from moisture.
If possible, I would like a fairly inexpensive product that is not very labor intensive.
Because all of this will be hidden by the barrel, I am not very concerned about looks.
So with that criteria, what would you use?
Tung Oil?
Shellac?
