A buddy has a G3 that he wants to sell. I wanted to know what model it is. It says

Imported by CAI
Manufactured by Indep.
Portugal
Serial 1 03**
G-3

It looks pretty nice, better than a lot of Century guns that I've seen.

Thanks
Lars

At the very least, the receiver is Portugese manufactured on HK licensed equipment. Unfortunately, you may have some difficulty determining who put it together. Century can be contacted to see how it left their hands, but I'll bet it was a stripped receiver.

The better Century guns were running for $400 wholesale, the worse ones were down around $300 wholesale (CETME'S). Add $75 retail, subtract $75 cause it's used... there you go.

Most people that have these and they're GOOD don't usually part with them. There are enough unreliable ones out there I'd be leary of buying any on the used market.

I haven't been able to confirm this, but some sources report that the Indep guns are actually factory built Portuguese FMPs (like the older PARs imported G3S) with some US parts to allow import and sale. If that is the case, then we're talking about a really great rifle and not a demilled parts gun, unlike a typical Century G3.

Most Indeps I've seen were going for $800 to $1100. I wish I knew the whole story so I could confirm if that value is worthwhile.
