What gets me in the Suppressor Game? A new .22 or use what I got?

I have decided that the next step in my firearm hobby is a suppressor. So what I am looking at is how best to get into a suppressor. (besides Trust, Tax stamp, etc). I am looking at host options.

I have some bolt action hunting rifles, but I am not real keen on threading them.

I have a AR with a threaded barrel with a flash suppressor in 5.56.
I have a Glock 29,
EAA Witness (steel small frame) in 9mm
A Marlin 795 in .22
(A pink Cricket in .22 )

What I am trying to decide is buying a threaded barrel, or getting the current barrel threaded in the case of the 795, or buying a new firearm. Probably a Ruger 22/45 or a Ruger SR22.

I would like to know those who have gone down the suppressor road, what you feel would be a more economical, and also use full option. I don't own a .22 pistol.

I have a Savage BV .22 rifle that is my favorite bolt action .22, 10/22 is one of the easiest to suppress, the Walther P22 is probably the most common pistol suppressor host but I have also sold a ton of the factory threaded Browning Buckmarks and I have a 22/45 that is ok, taking it apart to clean can be a pain, its one of the few I actually get the instructions out for.

You need to first decide if you want a rimfire, centerfire pistol, or centerfire rifle can. If rimfire....then pistol, rifle, or both? The Ruger SR22 doesn't have a threaded barrel and I don't know of anybody making one so that may not be the best choice. I own and shoot a suppressesd Walther P22, S&W M&P 22, and Ruger Mark III, and i enjoy the Mark III most. Im tempted to pick up one of those 22/45 Lites. For a rifle, suppressed 10/22s are some of the most fun you can have.

I would probably get a can that handles both pistol and rifle if I went the .22 route.

As far as I know all .22 suppressors will handle rifle and pistol, most people start off with a .22, for one simple reason. Its cheap. The suppressors are typically under 500.00 and you can shoot a .22 all day without selling your first born.

Plus when shooting sub sonic ammo in a bolt action rifle you can get that "Hollywood" quiet.

I would get a screw on .22 RF suppressor. If you have not at least looked at the Tactical Innovations "Quest" model it might be worth it to do so.

$399 retail for an all stainless steel, user serviceable/take apart can, with "K" baffles. Great suppressors for the money.

The second part of my answer is with the firearms you already have purchase an already threaded .22 Pistol. Ruger MK III's and 22/45's come with threaded barrel options. I personally would go with the MK III.

Ditto on a .22 suppressor. Personally, I will use one more than I would on a .308 for example. The Huntertown Arms Guardian is good also.

I would STRONGLY recommend a SilencerCo Sparrow. If you look on gunbroker you can find them for about 350.00. They are easy to clean and full auto rated.

I have a Huntertown Guardian...little bit of a FRP but not too bad at all IMO.

Sounds good in my FVSR, sounds great on my AA Glock conversion.
