What gun is you?

Been thinking about this a while...

I've got a few in the safe, some that I carry, some that I hunt with, some just for plinking, some that spend more time in the safe than they should....

But if I had to pick just one that more or less sums me up, it would be my GP100. I wear it when I'm out in the woods and working my land. Snakes, deer, tin cans, and a bobcat have seen its business end. It's lost a good amount of bluing and there are some spots where rust got to it before I had the chance to clean her back up. At first the wear and tear bothered me, but the more I carry it, the more I've come to really appreciate its character. I love this gun. Rough around the edges, not the prettiest out there, but has always had my back....

Wondering what that gun might be for you all THR folks.

I have to agree with the OP. The GP100 follows me everywhere when camping or hunting. uploadfromtaptalk1395705440575.jpg

In a firearm: Colt Combat Commander .45 ACP. Compared to some of its brethren a little shorter and a little heavier, and definitely getting up there in age, but still has the wherewithal to get the job done.

1911. Classic design, time proven, reliable, simple, no-frills (old design) and proven power when called upon. Nothing fancy, just a true friend watching your back.

The 4" S&W K-frame revolver. Blued, with magna grips.

Like this, but with a Tyler T-grip.

I can understand that,,,
in a way it's that old saw about people and their pets.

Back when I was a svelte karateka,,,
I owned a sleek orange-brindle greyhound.

Now that I'm 62 and no longer svelte (or a karateka),,,
I own an old fat Maine Coon cat that sleeps 20 hours a day.

Wait a minute,,,
Maybe I'm a blunderbuss also.

Aarond

cracks me up, because that is a complete description of ME!

and as far as "that gun" goes, mine is an American Gun Co., (Crescent Arms) 16 ga. hammer gun...

I'd be a Colt 1903 Model M. Classic good looks in a comfortable and simple package. Dependable, reliable, accurate precision, and delightfully functional despite being a bit past prime. :neener:

Old and well used but still mission feasible. :D

VooDoo

Surprised no one has said an AR15. Sounds concieded, but:

Highly adaptable and can fit for most situations; loved by most, hated by antis; decent looking; easy to accessorize by changing furniture; can be operator status or cool, calm, and collected; etc...

This is really tough, but I figured it out. I'm a h&r American double action in 38s&w. Short, wide, and slow but still get the job done. Old school with a touch of new school mixed in for variety. Not super desirable except to those few who care about the history. Cheap as can be, and always ready to go anywhere and do anything.

I'm going with the Gustav Gun. Built by the Nazis it could hurl a 71 passenger bus (or the weight of one anyway - 16,000 lbs. or so) 23 miles at 2700 fps. Here's a photo of it from The Blaze. You can write your own joke to go along with this. BTW it took 500 men to operate it including a 2 star general.
