We all work hard during the week so what projects did we all work on and enjoy over the weekend.
I finally finished repairing and touching up the wood on my 1970 1895 Anniversary Savage...

Next I refinished my original grips for my Dan Wesson 357...

I also started gathering and engineering parts for one of my next projects...

I worked hard all week finishing and putting my new Fusion 1911 lower together (well, it wasn't really all that hard actually). This way my Nelson Custom can have a full time place of residence other than sharing my Colt 9mm lower. Really pleased with the quality and machining fit and tolerances of the Fusion. Went together fine using mostly Wilson Combat internals. Functions perfectly and shoots just as good as when it was on the Colt. Buying another one of their lowers for another 1911 / 22 conversion upper I have.

LoL, I do that way to much, thank God I have a lazer bore site...never satisfied
The Savage looks awesome, btw!

Im actually shopping for taller mounts for my M99E now to fit a glossy Leupold Vari-X to it. Eye relief is always a challenge with a M99 thanks to the receiver design and the whole excersize may be for nought. I may just have to hang the old Weaver K4 back on it in the end, lol.

Thankyou, still can't believe i stumbled across that gun on consignment, previous owner said his gramps, who died, left it to him in the estate, he's not a rifle guy and his gramps only used it as a backdrop wall hanger at the gun shows, he never fired it. ( which also explains why all the dents and scrapes in the wood i had to repair) ill put my k4 back on someday but I like the looks without too. I paid 900 but you don't come across a unfired 1970 rifle very often

Nice job on the DW grips & Savage! I've got a nice DWA grip (lighter wood) that someone put a high gloss finish on it I'd like to refinish. What would you recommend to use to strip and refinish for more of a satin look?

I used this...requires alot of scrubbing with medium and fine steel wool but has oils in it to help the old wood. I'm trying a soak with another DW grip and hopefully I won't have to scrub as much, ill let ya know...oh yea, soaking in dish for 5 min completely jellied up the old finish, much easier than scrubbing...

Nice thread. I was busy with a ton of other stuff this weekend, but had a chance to swap a vintage Leupold M-8 4x compact scope onto my .30-30 handi rifle. Looks great, can't wait to shoot it, but didn't have time to do that or take pictures....

Very nice, I was very pleased with the fusion frame I got for the price. What finish is that on there, looks smoother than a parked finish?

I once again cleaned off my reloading table so that I can sit to it to work. No matter how many times I tell my wife and daughters to stop piling stuff on it they don't listen. I then consolidated all of the 327 brass I've accumulated over the last year so that it can all be put through the polish and wax process. The same for the 32acp brass, but that's going to mostly need to be cleaned, decapped, and resized first.

Having done all of this I have no doubt that some other fool thing that must be urgently addressed will arise so that once more I won't be able to get any reloading done leaving my wife and daughter's ample time to pile more crap on my reloading table so that I can repeat the cycle once again.

Frustrated? No. Why do you ask?

Well, no big project by any means but I installed a +3 on my 870 and set up my AR500 Target Stand from YankeeThunder targets. Pretty ingenious, portable steel target stand.... pretty cool lil setup. I bought about 50ft of 1" EMT (metal conduit) and set up a few new steel plates with their -Hook N Hang Champion Target Pack-. I think they are such a good design I'm going to take pictures and start a thread about them for those who don't know about them. Makes setting up portable target stands w/ steel a breeze.....

I wish I knew about them years ago, although I managed without them. It all breaks down so quickly and easily you could easily tote it around with you in a VW bug and set up and take down in less than a minute...
