Of those listed the Ruger by a country mile. I'd also add in a used but still nice mechanical condition S&W as an option. Although then I'd be suggesting some manner of shorter barrel K frame option. And that would be a touch bigger than the SP101 for concealed carry.

Having played around with a few of the less expensive options for .22's I now believe that with handguns that it's best to go with the proven leaders to ensure a LIFETIME of quality. And as has been proven over and over the ones which last the longest both for time of ownership and quantity of ammo sent downrange that Ruger and S&W get the nod.

What will you be using the gun for, & I did not see a S&W on the list.
read my original post for gun use. Also as I stated earlier smith and wesson is a little out of my price range and I would prefer to buy a new gun. Although if I find a nice gently used 3" k frame I might consider.

I guess my question now is should I go with the 4 inch as David E recommended or stick with the 3". If the 3" had adjustable sights instead of just a notch I wouldn't be split between the two. Looking at reviews online it appears the 4" has a much better sight picture (which can be partially attributed to sight radius). I know you can get fiber optics for the front sight but I'm not sure how easily a 4" would conceal.

IF they made an adjustable sight 3" version, they'd sell a boat load of them......but they don't.

The one extra inch is not hard to hide, especially when it brings so much more to the table than the fix sighted 3"

I think the adjustable sight version would be perfect in a 3" barrel as well. I have a 2" SP for CCW and even with the shorter barrel it's a gun that needs a holster to carry. I think the 4" version is an ideal trailgun and it shouldn't be really any more difficult to conceal than the 3" and the better sights more than outweigh any other issues IMHO.

The charter is a fine gun. Been using them for yrs! If u like it get it!

No contest, in my opinion: SP101 all the way. Nice to be able to shoot .38 specials as well as .357 mags, and if you take up reloading, the options are even greater. The SP is fairly heavy for its size, too, which helps absorb recoil.

I'd not say it's a "no brainer," but close ...

Oh, and 3-inch max length. If you want a 4-inch, might as well look at the GO100.
