What guns has the Obama panic caused to sell most?

One of my favorite toy stores is Whittaker Guns outside of Owensborro Kentucky. They always have everything and lots of it. Went there this past weekend and the rack which normally has AT LEAST 25-30 AR's and a dozen or so AK's and M1A's was BARE. Literally empty.

This is a store that you never bother taking the display because they have a half dozen or so in back.

Gun run!

In my area shops are running out of anything a gun store might usually stock. One distributor running up to six months behind. SD ammo short, garden variety "practice" ammo almost non existent. I've been wanting a Red Hawk, but holding off because holsters for it are impossible to find. Now, I think I'd better go back and get it before its gone forever! Hang the holster!

An acquaintance wanted to buy one of my rifles.

I told him I don't sell guns to Democrats.

He was ticked off, since he couldn't find that kind of rifle anywhere around here.

I told him he was responsible for that.

I answered this question with a simple "yes," but I probably ought to elaborate.

The last time that I went into our local gunstore, it looked like it had been looted.

Out of racks that held well over 250 rifles always, there were more empty slots than not.

In addition, my brother-in-law owns one of the largest gun/sports stores in South MS. The last time I talked to him, he told me that they can't keep ANYTHING in stock-- including bolt actions, double barrels, etc.-- not just the "EBRs."

I haven't been in Gander Mountain lately-- they carry the most "EBRs" around here-- but I suspect it is the same.

The only store that seems to keep anything is the local Wal-Mart.

Well, in about two years, I'd guess that lots of today's panic buyers will be putting lots of their new guns on GunBroker. Probably be a lot of good buys available then.

the only problem is that after Nancy Pelosi gets her AB, those "good deals" are going to be triple the price that they are today.

I was lucky enough to pull all of my IRA money out when the DJIA was at 13,800. I wish I could have found a way to buy ARs with the money. I'd be looking at early retirement.

Everything, especially anything semi-auto. Also, the ammo shelves are empty and even cleaning supplies are getting hard to get in some stores. Weird.

Stuff wouldn't be so scarce around here, except the gun shops sell a lot online. So the demand in the big cities means demand out here.

I can't really complain, as without online sales the local shops might have been driven out.

SSN Vet,

You know I actually caught a break too. By a series of coincidences, I decided to completely cash out on Jan 3rd of last year. I had been riding some huge returns on a few Chinese and Brazilian ETF's. The Dow was a little over 13K at the time.

And to keep this gun related, I bought a CZ 452 (and a truck) with some of the money.

Thank You All-

Those that have come too me, seeking too purchase their very first
firearm. Yes, the soon-to-be ObamaNation has caused great stir in
the firearms business; and I'm happy too report that our retail sales
(and wholesale warehouse) showed quite a profit from previous year's.
I would say that the "evil black rifles" were the most sought after items;
followed closely with standard capacity magazine handguns. In some
instances [especially for first time female byer's], revolvers led the
way~! So again, thanks too all who have been served by the
friendly staff from within our store~! ;) :)

At my favorite gun shop they have several AR's, and a couple AK's. Not as many as normal though. I have become victom of the obama scare and picked up a FAL and a Browning Hi-power just in case.

Bad moon rising

I suspect that even this may well be a distraction. It's true enough that guns are flying out of the dealers faster than at any previous time, and America is arming as never before, but who has noticed that American weapons and ammo sales are up to Israel? Russia has determined to increase military sales by at least 5% for '09. To whom?
A couple months ago, there was a post where someone said that Federal will stop offering some ammo types to us because of a huge Gov't. order. OK, ammo hasn't stopped altogether, but it's harder to find, and more expensive. We in America think it's all due to domestic demand. I say that we in America are vastly underestimating the ammo producing capacity of our country, and fail to understand that our military is indeed massing stockpiles.
I urge all here to visit this portal to Mideast news, and start putting the missing pieces together:

There is indeed a bad moon rising, and a storm brewing.

Ala Dan,

Just about started to cry thinking about all the work you are doing to serve your people. Keep up the community service, sir!

Same here; stores have been selling, but can still find almost anything, and prices haven't gone thru the roof.

The .gov has used up so much ammo in Iraq/Afganistan that the reserve supply is down. A friend who served in Iraq in 2003 told me he was getting ammo with lot numbers from the 1980's...

Hey Duke of Doubt, I almost fell out of my chair LMAO. What was his response to that little jeweled nugget of knowledge? You think he got the message? Suppose he might at least consider changing his voting habits? Please note, I did NOT say change his party affiliation; there are some good gun-loving Demo's and there are some pansy-ass socialist Repub's too. I vote issues, not parties. Give 'em ALL hell, they work for US.

Based on the local stores that I frequent, I would say that Obama is making AR-15s chambered in .223 and Glocks fly off the shelves.

Stores that normally have those 2 types of guns in stock, are now cleaned out, while multiple other high-cap semi-autos and EBRs sit on the shelves.
