I know that I am not the only one on this list that watched this series on the History Channel. So has anyone heard what happened to it? What a way to start off a Saturday than with watching TotG followed up with Shooting USA. Being the pessimist that I am, I assume it was cut to make way for more PC programming. :fire: Every now and then I see episodes repackaged as "Modern Marvels."

They are not too expensive.
Maybe your enjoying a larger income than myself. (I'm sure 99% of the people here are :) )
But $24.99 + $5.95s/h for a 50minute documentary is what I consider expensive.

You have to buy 3 or more to make it reasonable @ $17.50 each and add $1/per item to the 5.95 for s/h

Considering you can buy a tv series for $30-50 for 10-15 episodes (i.e. curb your enthusiasm 10 episodes $30)
I only saw 13 episodes on their site.

But I see the high prices on all their content.
I'd rather set my dvr to record them.

Veloce is right. I don't understand why History Channel, Discovery, SpeedVision, etc. continue to try to hawk their shows one episode at a time. The business model of putting an entire tv season in one box set has worked out very well for both the studios and consumers.

The typical budget for most Hollywood primetime shows can be north of 2 million dollars per episode. Compared to that, the production costs on shows like Tales of the Gun are peanuts.

Granted, shows like that appeal to a much more narrow audience than something from one of the mainstream networks, but even taking that into consideration, they'd probably rake in more money by offering the value of an entire season of programming for even $40-$50.

I agree. I might buy the series on DVD if it was $30 or $40 for all of them.
If you can find a place that sells the whole series for that price, PLEASE let me know. Usually they are about that much for one.
