can you tell me which one of these is the most accurate and how far away can an average person hit a target the size of a clay pigeon or something similar? I had a 44 mag. once but didn't like all the noise and muzzle blast. Is the muzzle blast from these three close or similar to the 357 mag.? Cause thats about what I like. Also which are the best brands for performace as reliability and accuracy for under 400 to 450.00 :cuss: <<<what my wife does when I think about buying guns lol.

No, these smaller cartidges are more sedate than a .357 Mag with the exception of the .40 in some loadings.
9mm and .45 are very pleasant to shoot. Good accuracy can be said of any fighting gun that is reliable and can do a 3 inch group at 15 to 20 yards or there about. Rested out to 25.
If your just wanting something for personal protection or recreational shooting, I'd suggest a medium sized 9mm. If your more serious and this will be a "Carry Gun" meaning a dedicated CCW weapon, then I would suggest the same in a .45.
Season according to taste.

Through the right gun, 9mm and .45 CAN do an inch at 25 yards, rivaling a revolver. But most will do the 3" George mentioned.

.40 'seems' to be slightly less accurate in the same brand of pistol. Most needs are taken care of with the other two.

None of those three auto cartridges will be as loud as .357. Less recoil, too.

just as is the case with rifle accuracy, there are 2 types of handgun accuracy. practical, and off the bench bragging . for my needs an accurate hunting or defensive firearm is 1 i can get an effective, stopping shot off in a second or 2 . it doesnt have to be MOA. this whole business of a gun having to shoot sub 1" groups to be " accurate" is moot in my book. while tiny groups are the rage among bench shooters, how will that person or weapon perform if asked to fire in the field, away from thier steady benches, sand bags, and unlimited time to get a shot off? the definition of accuracy all depends on what one's intentions and needs are.

You hear this all the time, but can anyone name a very (bench) accurate combat gun that doesn't also deliver in the practical regards?

P7, P9S, BHP, STI, etc.

Think about it.

auto's

I have shot a gp 100 in 357 and it was very accurate to me , will these auto's come close to being as accurat as a gp 100 ?

25 yds

I like my pistols to shoot well at 25 yds.if I can keep my groups within the black i'm happy.if not I look for ways to improve.
shooting at 10 yd targets is silly in my book.
