Going to buy some ammo to use for my reloading and was wondering where the consensus best place is?

Cheaper-than-dirt?

Natchez?

Thanks!!

since ammoman includes shipping in the price it's often the best out there (though not by much).

www.dansammo.com is another. Dan's stock is kinda low right now, but he's always done me right on stuff he has.

I like www.outdoormarksman.com too.

www.MidwayUSA.com is a good one to deal with. They give a C&R discout too. ;)

Century Arms has some good deals if you have a C&R. I like their one rate shipping when buying a couple cases.

I don't particularly like CDT, Ammoman or Sportsmans guide.

Back when I ordered 2 weeks ago, sportsmans guide that the cheapest 7.63X39, ammo man had the cheapest 9mm and cheaper than dirt had the cheapest 12ga and .45 that my Taurus would chew. This was all in stock.

ha!

I was just about to place an order for 1000 rnds with Ammoman, but decided not to because it appears they want me to fill out some form and photocopy my driver's license and fax it to them or something to be put on their "list" of those approved to buy ammo from them. Hell no!

So I got mine from Midway after all. $15 more is worth me not having to go through that bullsh**. :fire: :fire: :cuss:

off topic, but walmart/academy always has the best priced. only ammo i buy online is .223 and not much in savings.

call Ammoman re:ID copy

I called about some ammo specs and asked the guy about needing to send a DL copy to purchase.

The guy on the phone said that was "only for weird places like Illinois and California."

If I ordered from Maryland, I needed to send no ID copy.

(edited to add): Sorry, see that you were from California. Never Mind

yeah

CA here. Midway doesn't make me do that. I figure, why get put on a list -- any list -- as a high-volume ammunition buyer if I don't have to? :barf:

man o' man.I just cruised most of these sites, most are high and dry on 5.56mm,7.62x51mm and 7.5 swiss is not around much either. No wolf 7.62x54 either. What's a rifleman to do,start shooting pistol caliber carbines? No I don't reload though those that do I've some envy.

BTW,in the last 4 days I've hit 9 Walmarts in various locations....no Winchester .223 to speak of ....none.They had all the pistol caliber value packs though.9mm and .40s&w along with .45auto.

this is a bad bad....bad situation.A local gunstore has a small amount of South African 7.62x51 for $8 per 20.I think I'll get it.

The strangely named "cheaper than dirt" retailer is about the most expensive online vendor around.

If you like to order in bulk and don't mind the $30/yr club fee, sportsman's guide has some pretty decent prices too. One can always find an active SG $10 off or free shipping coupon.

You are in CA, you’re on a list. Ammo sales require proof of age depending on what you buy. Get over it. Whats the difference of showing your ID in a shop or online?

Ed thanks for that,Prvi Partizan ammo, anybody can give a review on it?I have never used it.

Greek m2 30-06,do you guys recommend it,is it clean ammo, non corrosive?

Yes, I recommend it. It's great for running in M1 Garands. I think it runs a bit hot compared to the LC M2 ball that CMP is selling, but either one is a good choice.

Clean? Not particularly but it's 20-30 year old surplus ammo. It's clean enough for its intended use.

It is not corrosive. The Korean surplus .30-06 is corrosive so watch out.

It's also the best deal going (from the CMP ... J&G Sales also has some) on 30-06 surplus.
