What is the deal with Remington Sabot Slugs in a Hastings Barrel?

Slug Barrels
WARNING! Remington Ammunition

Remington ammunition is not recommended for use in Hastings slug barrels. It has been reported that damage to the barrel can occur when customers used Remington sabot ammunition. To date, all reported damage has only occurred with 12ga ammunition.

Hastings Distribution, LLC, Verney-Carron or KEBCO, LLC will not be responsible for any damage incurred while using Remington sabot ammunition. Although the damage reported to date is to the barrel, this is no assurance that even more serious damage or injury could not occur. You will void any warranty and are assuming all risks if you use Remington sabot ammunition in Hastings barrels.

I bought a Hastings barrel 25+ years ago. Many different brands and types of sabot ammo have gone through it, including Remington. No damage yet.
"What type of damage?" would be my question to Hastings.

I tried searching, but haven't got any results yet.

I sent Hastings a message. We'll see if I get any replies.

I believe that refers to the Remington "Copper Solids". At least that is how my Hastings barrel was marked.

I bought my Hastings barrel in '96 for deer hunting in MN before I moved to NM in '98. I used Remington copper sabot slugs back then successfully with no issues. I dropped a white tail at 212 yds without a scope... standing broadside with no wind. I'm heading back to MN next month to hunt now that I'm retired and started doing some research about ammo. The concerns about Remington copper sabots caused me to call Hastings. The person with whom I spoke said they advise everyone to avoid all Remington ammo in their rifled barrels for safety reasons. I'm simply reporting what I was told. I'll be using Hornady SST slugs in my Browning 12 guage for my upcoming hunt. At 64 years of age, I have zero interest in using any ammo that has safety issues. My journey will be over soon enough.
