As I related on another thread, I have been having problems with my DW Razorback (slide binding on the frame) and, on the advice of a few posters, decided to break it down and check for burrs, lack of lubrication, etc. Anyway, in doing so, I noticed that the hammer seemed a little rough too. So, I went to a website I had bookmarked on the disassembly of the 1911 and, to make a long story short, ended up with my entire frame in little bity pieces. Now, that does not really bother me too much. I am sorta mechanically inclined, and can probably figure out how to put it together from any old 1911 manual. But since I already have it completely stripped, what I really want is a book/video/manual that will tell me how to do a decent trigger job, and what I should and should not polish to make it run a little smoother. I am not under the delusion that I can become a master gunsmith in 3 easy lessons, but I was hoping that there are some basic things that I do myself to improve the feel and functionality of the gun.

Oh, and I also need to know how to put it back together again. :D

Thanks,
rock

Jerry Kuhnhausen is the definitive author on the 1911. His first book is sooooooo cool that you'll want to read it several times and spend hours just staring at the technical drawings.

Don't bother with anything printed by Wilson Combat. Complete waste of money.

Once you've held the Kuhnhausen text, you'll know what I'm talking about.
