Purchased a Glock 19 Gen 3 with night sights & holster from Buds for $531. I suspect it's a cheap holster & am not sure what type of night sights they are, but I should find out in about a week.

just a follow up from my recent post...

I stripped my P230 down, cleaned out the carbon and schmegma from being a b/u gun for the local cop I bought it from last week. I also took the advice to polish out the light scratches with Flitz.....got 95% out....I could have made it perfect but the one that bugged me is deeper than most and now is not visible unless you hit the light just right and its faint even then.

I also swapped on the english walnut grips and Hogue hex screws. Date code is 'JE' which means it was made in 1984. The three German-made stainless mags are worth 2/3 of what I paid for the gun.

I bought an AR-10 in .308 Win last year. It's a great looking rifle and shoots pretty good. However, if I had my druthers I would have passed on it. The direct impingement design was not what I was looking for. I think it is a detriment to any shooter to worry about keeping the chamber "wet" in order for it to fire dependably. Stoner was a genius, no doubt, but I wish he would have kept in line with the gas piston/operating rod rifles such as the M1A, FNFAL, FN-SCAR, SigSauer, Ruger SR-762, etc.
There hasn't been a time that my buddy's Colt AR-15 doesn't jam after a firing a couple of magazines. It's like clockwork. I don't like to burn ammo needlessly, however, I like to feel confident that everytime I pull the trigger my rifle will go bang! I don't feel that way with the Armalite AR-10. I see a Ruger SR-762 in my future. Good Shooting!

Savage 10TR .308 and Savage Mark II TRR-SR both bought last Sunday.

I was looking for the 10TR for a few days when I happened to come across it.
I then went to the range where there happened to be a .22 TRR-SR on the consignment rack.

There is nothing wrong with the DI system.
If your buddy's gun jams after a few mags there is something wrong and it should be looked at.

Start by inspecting his ammo if he's reloading or try a different brand if he's not.
Troubleshoot what is the nature of the jam.
Failure to feed, failure to extract, bolt over base, etc.
Once the nature of the jam is determined and the rifle is inspected for a mechanical defect then the solution should be evident.

A DI rifle should be able to go virtually 1,000 rounds or more without a failure.

Remington R1. Was between the R1, Springer A1, or Para Expert. The R1 just felt right.

I like that it's classic looking, but carries with it the modern accouterments that make the Series 80, minus the crappy trigger. Mine breaks at 4 lbs.
Added faux ivory Hogue grips. I'm a sucker for black/blued/oxide finished guns with white grips. This ones no different.

I wouldn't go that far. While the design lends itself to accurate shooting, and I agree that with a properly lubed rifle that DI will go hundreds if not thousands of rounds without issue, to say there is nothing wrong with an operating system that spews hot gas and fouling into its own innards is not entirely sound.

I bought a Colt LE6920 a couple of months ago, and I really like shooting it. I'm in the process of working up loads for it and I think I'm close to settling on a couple, depending on my next range trip. Nice rifle, as my first semi-auto. Been shooting 1911's for the last 18 months pretty much exclusively until getting the AR.
