What is the lowest caliber you will carry

I pocket carry because I don't feel comfortable having something strapped to my body. At the time, .380ACP pistols offered the best combination of size and decent stopping power. I now have a sizable investment in .380 ammo and I am okay staying with that caliber. If it weren't for that, however, I'd be looking for one of the new pocket 9mm pistols that was introduced at the 2012 Shot Show.

In my view, the new series of compact 9mms don't fit in a pocket very well. They do however fit comfortably into a in the waist band holster.
 
CZguy, you are right, I haven't held one yet but the 9mm Sig Sauer P938 is talking to me.

At 5.9" is only 0.4 inches longer than the .380ACP P238 I pocket carry every day. They share the same 3.9" height and 1.1" overall width. At 16.0 ounces the P938 weighs just 5% more - 0.8 oz.

If I were forced to carry a small caliber handgun, I'd opt for .327 Federal or larger in a revolver and ,380ACP or larger in an autoloader.
 
I carry my NAA Mini in .22 LR loaded up with CCI Stinger hollowpoints. It isn't a 9mm or .38, but I can guarantee a .22 LR at 1450fps in the face generally promotes reconsideration of one's actions.
 
Shot placement is what counts, not caliber. I couldn't care less what caliber weapon I carry. As long as I can put a couple of rounds where I want them to go.
 
.22 mag, and .32 ACP.

I carry them all the time. Much to much is made about caliber. Seriously.
 
My Daily Carry is a S&W 638 in .38 Special, loaded with Speer 135 grain Hollow Points.
I shoot the pistol weekly at 7 yards at a man sized target using my reloads for practice.
I really don't think much of the 9MM for anything.
 
After a lot of thought, I will carry whatever caliber I have for the time, my EDC is a .380, but in warmer months a .22 will do, placement, placement, placement
 
I'm ok with.380's, but would still carry at least compact sized gun for two reasons: I need the extra weight for my troublesome shooting hand, and I just don't have confidence in the reliability of micro autos.

In a pinch I will carry my Beretta Bobcat 21A (only with HV .22lr ammo--I think the load is critical in a mouse-gun where IMO the bulk-type ammo is not sufficient but 'better than nothing' as they say).

.357 Magnum

I only own .45's in semi-auto, though. My little J-frame Taurus is more of a summertime afterthought - shorts, tee shirt, and a quick trip to the Stop 'N' Rob or some such.
 
I am confident in carrying a .22lr any day. Mostly because I haven't been able to conceal a 12ga very well. Plus, my Winchester is too dang heavy anyway!

The gun itself is a choking hazzard... here, eat this.

I am comfortable with 9mm... I would have been comfortable with .380 but neither the LCP or P3AT would allow me the accuracy I can get out of my CW9... and, given that it is Maine I cary my 1911 full size .45 9 months out of the year.
