What is wrong with this picture?

HaHaHaHaHa! oh my aching sides! that is the funniest thing I've heard all day.

Help! Help! someone's throwing polished factory ammo at my house!

Too bad it wasn't steel cased, we could have said she was crying wolf.

She probably didn't even say anything like that. I can imagine her talking in arabic about what a great reloader her son ahmed is, and showing off the bullets he made. "see how shiny and new!" But the reporter doesn't understand a word she says, so they just take the picture and make up something to go with it.

Of course she has man hands. People who work for a living with their hands generally have hands that look like that. There's no shame in it -- or there wouldn't be, in a healthy culture.
Ummm.... it was a joke based on a Seinfeld episode. Sorry you missed it.

Are ya sure she's not a he?

Reminds me of a couple of shoot 'em up cowboy movies from years ago where the actors in the "shooting scenes" comment on how a certain rifle or sixgun can "THROW" or "SLING" lead!

So.......now the mystery is solved; the newer modern weapons that our troops have can now SLING or THROW the complete cartridges! This is known as "Stealth mode" . No more noise and barrel wear & No more recoil from that pesky 5.56 cartridge!

CI

PS: I still think its a guy in drag...

Good Golly! With what I'm paying for 5.56 that old gal has enough ammo there to trade for a new camel!

Take a look at her expression! She's probably saying to the reporter something like..." you blithering idiot! These have not been shot! This will make me look like a fool! Look around outside...there are thousands of bullets laying all over the place!"

...or maybe not...

Mark.

It is 430 am and I should avoid waking my roommates.
Do you know how hard it is to try to prevent laughter by holding your breath? I ended up laying on the floor looking like i was trying to simultaneously smother myself and explode!
Thanks, I needed that. My roommates probably could have done without though. :p

This shows how little faith in the American public the media has. No wonder they want to take away our power, they think we're children!

The reflected light doesn't look right- those bullets have to be photoshopped onto her hand.

Quite possibly. I know for sure that Arabs love talking with their hands so maybe she was trying to emphasize something she was talking about when they took the picture. Then they photoshopped the rounds in her hand.

I'm gonna start throwing mine . . . groups might improve, plus I can pick them all up & throw them some more.

Laugh! Laugh! Make fun of her! What if one of those hit her in the eye? Could've put it out!

Ok I looked at the picture more closely. The two cartridges aren't even the same size but they both appear to be 5.56x45. Leading me to believe they were both photoshopped into her hand.

ROFL

i don't recall that scene from the only time i watched hot shots. that last bit is AWESOME funny. He runs out of ammo, guys are still charging him (by that point he's killed like 460 bad guys with one belt fed gun), he has no time to reload, so he just grabs a handful of live rounds from a bucket and throws them at the bad guys.

they all clutch their stomachs and fall over.

ROFLMAO!!!

They have now "corrected" the caption.

CORRECTS BULLETS TO UNSPENT An elderly Iraqi woman holds up two unspent bullets at her house following an early coalition forces raid in the predominantly Shiite Baghdad suburb of Sadr City, 14 August 2007. US and Iraqi troops carried out massive assaults against Shiite militants, killing four in Baghdad’s volatile slum of Sadr City, and arresting several more across Iraq, the military said today. Notice they neglected to mention that they prevoiusly said the bullets hit her house.

The way photo manipulation is these days,

I wonder if that is even her actual hand. There's no evidence, even in the image, that it's actually attached to her.

As to the cartridges; yup, they sure are shiny.

(I love shiny things.)

I think those came from one of those new GPS guided primer propelled jobs that fire through a brass polishing barrel. W himself surely fired them at this poor old lady.

Truth be told they probably have a keychain on the other end!

Well,

we have at least one professional photographer here (the Owner) and Lord knows how many skilled image hackers and detectors of such peoples' efforts.

So, I ask, do any of y'all think the picture has been messed with, or just the pose and props, or what?

Whether or not the picture has been doctored is not the point - we have the news media reporting the impossible in either case. "News you can trust", indeed.

A doctored photo (which I doubt, as lighting and angles do odd things to 2-dimensional images) and the claim being truthful about the statement "these bullets hit my house" would only matter as to whether the woman is practicing 'war by deception'.
