Among centerfire semi-autos, what is your favorite pistol to take to the range/plinking spot? What gun do you like to take with a few boxes (or case :) ) of ammo and shoot just for fun, with no regard for stopping power, practicality, or whatever serious qualities you consider in a weapon.
In short, what is your "funnest" pistol to shoot, and why?
All replies are appreciated.
Thanks,

David

Well my most fun gun is a Bersa .22lr pistol that I take to the range everytime. In centerfire, I guess it is the new SA XD I just got. I don't know if it is just because it is new but I really like to shoot it. It is accurate and shoots where I aim it so that makes it more fun than a gun that is hard to hit with.

Before the XD-9, I shot one of my Kahr K-9s alot. I still like the K-9 because it is a nice size that feels like a fistfull of gun and I can shoot very well with it considering its size.

Bought a Springfield P9 with a compensator and a dot site on it for my son. Has barrels for 9x19 and 9x21. I absolutley love to shoot it with 9x19. Holds 20 rounds, almost zero recoil, plenty accurate, fits the hand perfect, just great for hosing steel and with 9mm so cheap it's not hard on the wallet. I normally shoot revolvers but every session I shoot includes a 100 or so through the P9 :)

Not so much ''funnest'' but probably most satisfying with regard to pure shooting enjoyment - my carry SIG 226ST. If light diminished and laser dot visible - it gets even better! :)

A very close second will always be my BHP Practical - a JMB masterpiece and delight to shoot.

This is a tough one because I have a few faves...if I had to pick just one, I'd go w/ my USP 45 because the rounds always go exactly where I want them to go!

I hate glocks. I hate the grip angle, the plastic sights, the trigger, and the toy gun feel. However, with a 33 round magazine, its more fun than a barrel of monkeys. The 33 round magazines are really the only reason I got another Glock and, ironicly, this pistol I hate is my fun gun. Even though it tosses brass at my forehead.

By far, it's my West German P220. It simply has a character to it that hasn't been matched. I was very leary about changing anything on it, but decided to have the Action Enhancement package done on it by the Sig Custom Shop. It's even nicer to shoot now and has the same character. The DA pull is smooth and breaks really cleanly and the SA pull is indescribably nice.

Gotta be my CZ 75BD. Something about the way it shoots is just magic for me. I also enjoyed a Kimber this guy had at the range, but not gonna spend that kind of $$$.

My HiPoint carbine is a lot of fun too.

My name is Chris and I am a SIG-O-PHILE....................and I feel dirty for saying this. My favorite, fun pistol is the HK P7 series specifically the P7M8.

since this is the auto loader section i should say my springfield project pistol (well on its way to becoming the SMRN (South Mississippi Red Neck) ICQB (Interim Close Quarters Battle) Pistol, which is a direct descendant of the USMC ICQB.)

otherwise i'd say Colt SAA in .45 LC :scrutiny:

Just for fun. Admittedly, I've been enjoying it without the red dot lately.

My most fun pistol is my Sig P225. I like the 1076 too, but I can't get past the ammo costs to just blaze away with it.

Definately my Browning Buck Mark Target with the Tasco Red Dot. It's my only real "family gun" as well. Everyone loves to shoot it. I usually take a brick of .22s when we go to the range with few, if any, returning home.

Colt 45 Automatic Pistol, 5", either Government Model or Gold Cup. Also the S&W 52-2 38 Midrange Wadcutter.

The LAR Grizzly 44 Magnum is also cool, but 44 Mag is a handful to shoot a lot of.

I enjoy shooting my Series 80 Colt Officers the most.......with a Colt Government model and a Ruger Mk II behind that............But I also like my Detective Special and my Anaconda, too.... :D

Definitely my Glock 20 Longslide in 10mm. The definition of controllable horsepower. 200gr bullet at 1350fps with little more recoil than a Glock 19 9mm.

This one isn't mine, but mine is identical to it.

cslinger hit the nail on the head! For me, it is probably the HK P7M8. Fantastic shooter! I enjoy a lot of them though such as my SIG 229 in .357 SIG as well as 1911's of various ilks. Hay, I just like to burn gunpowder!
